  1. :welcome: They can't possibly know what needs to be replaced without putting a tester on the car (Durametric, PST2, or PIWIS tester). There is a TSB for seat belt buckle problems - but did they look up your VIN to see if it had already been done to your car? My guess is... not likely - they just want your money. Thanks for the quick reply Loren. I figured as much. I don't think it was ever done. Bought my Boxter from a buddy, the original owner last year. Already had to replace the top motor. Guess I'll have to get a tester plugged in to see what the codes come up. Having read some earlier threads, I was trying to look up the TSB on the NHTSA docket. Couldn't find it. Could it be it was not covering the 98 986? It is available here to view by our Contributing Members. It is TSB 1/04 6924 Airbag Warning Light Comes On: Fault Codes 45, 46, 48 and 49 -- Dated Jul 21, 2004
  2. In a 3.4 liter there is little difference between the non-egas and egas versions. Throttle body is the big one and of course they get a different DME program.

  4. I just helped someone with a 2001 Boxster a few months ago. It worked fine - then she upgraded to a Carrera cluster and it still works.

    GT3 PCM2 Install

That will depend on the options on your car. Did you get the install instructions TSB from the dealer?
  6. From the Technik Book for 997 S brakes: "Due to its increased performance, the 911 Carrera S uses a brake system with extra power boosting. The system is based on the brake system of the 911 Turbo (996). The system includes reinforced 4-piston monobloc fixed calipers on the front and rear axle. The calipers are painted red to distinguish them from the calipers on the 911 Carrera model. The internally ventilated and cross drilled brake discs have also been enlarged, to 330 mm x 34 mm (diameter x width) on the front axle and 330 mm x 28 mm on the rear axle. The use of larger brake pads in comparison with the 911 Carrera model increases the effective total brake pad surface by approx. 24% on the front axle and 30% on the rear axle, which extends the service life of the brake pads. Combined with improved brake cooling, the brake system of the 911 Carrera S provides excellent stability and consistent short stopping distances time after time without any noticeable brake fade."
  7. How to attach files or images
  8. Thanks for help. Which seat rails to use with GT3 seats? Do you know the inner dimensions of the GT3 seat? How much more space should i expect? Brey-Krause had a special seat rail kit that lowers GT3 seats (not stock seats).
  9. Did you get the PCM serial number off some paperwork or directly off the PCM? Sometimes a unit gets swapped out under warranty and the dealer forgets to give the owner the new card with the serial number and code. Best thing to do is to remove the PCM and check the serial number on the unit.
  10. Certainly have them reset it - but also read the fault code so you know what caused it.
  11. Yes, it looks like just the wheel carrier and the brakes. The rear rotors and caliper are different between a C2 and C2S.
  12. That is the correct part number.

  15. I got all excited until I realized you have a 2001. AFAIK, there's no aftermarket radios possible for MOST yet. At least without requiring ridiculously expensive fiber optic converters :( I'm an electrical engineer and do as much work my my cars as I can, but I expect any repairs would be a futile effort as I have no way to replace whatever gear is causing the clicking. I would much rather ditch the becker completely and stick in a nice mp3 player if I could... I could always band-aid it with an FM modulator, but I'll need to get it fixed eventually if I don't want to lose a ton of resale value. Umm... MOST did not start on the Boxster until MY2003 - so he has the old style wired radio.
