  3. Yes, there is a plug on the air pump (left side of the engine). Go to a dealer and stand next to a similar Carrera and see if it sounds the same. My sounds like a small Hoover vacuum.
  4. Perhaps 911.613.113.00 changeover switch -- US MSRP $12.86
  5. All MY02 and newer cars use DME 7.8. So that DME 5.2.2 manual will not have all the new codes in it. The DME 5.2.2 is pre egas so it won't have that info either. You want WKD 484 121 DME 7.8 OBD II Manual -- US MSRP is $387.84 but check with Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) to see what their price is.
  6. The air pump starts when you start the car cold. You might unplug it (briefly) and see if it is the cause of the noise.
  7. So, you think it's safer to splice into the brown ground wire instead of running the ground wire with my new wiring kit directly from the ground output on my new amp to the battery? And I'm kind of stupid on this, but what's the difference between the switched and unswitched wires? With radios and amps it is all out ground loops and interference. A ground to the chassis might be better. I mean no disrespect... but if you do not know the difference between switched power and unswitched power - then perhaps you should leave this to a pro. Switched power means power is only there when the key is in the "on" position. Unswitched power means that power is always there - even when the key is removed and car is locked (or unlocked).

  9. Glad you got it straightened out - we knew it could be done. A few of clarifications: 1. That has been stated here before. You will see nothing on aMY01 or newer Boxster (MY02 or newer Carrera) until you have a switch. 2. Also covered here.
  10. Any DME fault codes? Did you hear any noises? I assume from your comments that the engine runs and revs fine?
  11. I would start by checking the connection under the seat and at the control module. Be sure to disconnect the battery or you will trigger an airbag light when you remove the seat.
  12. Terminal 15 = Switched +12 volts Terminal 30 = Unswitched +12 volts Terminal 31 = Ground
  13. The consumption rate would depend on the number of miles/operating hours. Porsche says 1 quart in 800 is within spec. How many miles on the car?
  14. Carefully measure the voltage across the battery (with a good voltmeter) while the engine is running 13-14 volts is normal. If it is below that then you either have a voltage drain or a bad alternator/regulator.
  15. IMHO... if you are using the factory Mobil 1 (synthetic) then 12K is fine. The oil will go actually go further. But if you drive a lot of dusty roads or go offroad you likely want to cut that in half.
  16. :welcome: A little white smoke at start up is fairly normal for a flat 6 engine. Check to see if the oil level is too high. If it is at the top bar it could be over filled.
  17. LOL... probably a hundred different faults. It is done to protect the transmission from damage and to keep the car "safe". You will need to get the fault codes to see what is really going on.
  18. You will need to run a PST2 or PIWIS on the car and check for fault codes. Chances are the Tiptronic fell back into "limp mode" because of a fault.

  20. The OEM shifter is not "as short" as the B&M.
  21. Remove the cover plate (remove the small round plug?). Underneath are 2 screws to open the rest of it.
