  1. MSRP is around $160 without programming.
  2. I would says highly likely - yes.
  3. Did you look in your maintenance manual or on the sticker under the front hood? Sometimes dealers write the wheel lock code there? http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=74744
  4. Of course you mean Sunset ;)
  5. Please do not ask folks to make illegal copies of manuals here.
  6. What are the fault codes?
  7. ? That is the connector for the spoiler and the motor and lights are labeled on the diagram.
  8. Loren told me there is no "manual" but the OBDII manual for the particular DME in my case the 5.2.2, is a good source of info along with the service manuals. These are available from Sunrise imports. Check out the link at the top of the page, "Porsche parts at dealer cost" they have a good deal on boxster manuals and the 5.2.2 OBD manual. Garth BTW I used the Durametric to troubleshoot a check engine light. The codes said all the O2 sensors were faulty, the actual values showed the sensors weren't working as described on one of Mike Focke's webpages, http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/oxygensensors, I tried switching the precat sensors and the aftercat ones and that didn't work, they were just not changing voltage. I replaced all the O2 sensors and the engine likes it! Actual values shows the precats voltage fluctuating as described! I am a happy! I bought this manual on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-996...1QQcmdZViewItem It has all of the Porsche 996 ODBII fault codes. TDK That's a good deal!! I am going to search ebay for an OBD manual for a DME 5.2.2 for my car! Garth Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) has it: WKD 483 821 996 OBD II Manual (DME 5.2.2) Was $895.90 -- Now $55.00
  9. Yes, if the bar activation is not "on" it will need to be turned on. If that is the case then you need to find someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester.
  10. You need to read this and follow the instructions... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  11. Well, I would continue to drive the car carefully watching for it to happen again. Sounds very unusual.
  12. If it were me, I would use only Porsche approved ATF.
  13. Tiptronic Transmission Service
  14. Tests that fail. The PST2 or PIWIS have specific tests for the Tip. Sorry, I don't have any screenshots of the tests (I'll have to take some next time I see a Tip).
  15. Not sure what you mean by gear box? Front axle? or Tiptronic? The Tiptronic ATF change is the same as the Carrera.
  16. Depending on the age of your brake fluid it could have been that it was over 2 years old and water content was high. ATE Typ200 (Gold) is what the factory fill is and is usually fine for the occasional DE person. Remember it is recommended to change your brake fluid every 2 or 3 track events where in normal driving you can go up to 2 years.
  17. Mice? (would not be the first time)
  18. I ordered an OBDII scanner. I will check the codes. The "check engine" light is on anyway. I will also try my old cluster and see if everything remains the same. Any idea how to verify if the speed sensor works properly? Thanks I agree with RFM a generic code reader will not show anything but P series fault codes. You will need a Porsche PST2 or PIWIS tester to check this.
  19. I would run a code reader and see if there are any fault codes or pending codes.
  20. Have a look at the fuel door latch replacement DIY - we removed the canister to get access to the door latch. This is on a 996 but a 986 is the same. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=13955
  21. Did you try turning the left hand cluster knob to adjust the brightness (with the lights on)?
  22. :welcome: It is always best to use a code reader and get the fault code(s) before deciding a course of action.
  23. Check the polyrib belt pulleys, and water pump.
