    The factory fill is amber (Typ 200). I think it is fine for most DE type events. You will want to change it more often though - like every 4 events or 2 years whichever comes first.

    I either snake a small rubber hose hose through or a little compressed air. Keep the air pressure low if you use compressed air as you can blow the hose off or blow crud back in your face.

    It is an HDR Photomatix treatment to a series of 3 photos at different shutter speeds. (that's about all I know about photography!). So it is a re-touched photo.

    Check with the folks at Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) for a better pricing (I quote list here because that is all I have).

    MSRP on a Porsche rebuilt (exchange) 6 speed is about $5800. That includes a two year warranty.

    1. Just having the key in the ignition activates circuits in the car. Because of the problem with the selector support you can not remove the key and the magnet circuit over heats. That is how I understand it... 2. This is covered under warranty - I sent you a PM.

    2008 - 2003 = 5 years Your battery was old last year. It is rare for (any) battery to last longer than 4 years. I would start with a known good battery.

    CIS is usually reliable - but remember a 1980 car is 28 years old. So, some parts are going to wear out and some are going to break from age. The pop-off valve is a little extra insurance just in case - and like I said a new air box is $490 just for the air box - no labor.

    997.607.018.02 is for a 6 speed 997.607.018.03 is for a Tipronic Both have an MSRP around $90.

    I think he was talking about a product called a "flapper" that goes on the CIS intake. It is supposed to be like a popoff valve - if the cold start valve leaks too much gas into the intake then the car can ignite that gas. This backfire usually cracks the CIS intake box and makes the car undriveable. The idea behind the flapper is that it blows open taking the pressure hit instead of the intake.

    Make sure it is the cap and not the bleeder valve - they get old and leak too.

Probably time to check the coil packs on cylinders 1 and 3 and the spark plugs.

    Yes, when they program the new key(s) they can erase the old ones. You can buy your keys from Sunset Imports and they will come with a security code tag. To program them you will need someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester as well as your cars security codes (obtainable from your dealer if you ask for them). To program the keys the shop will need: your car, any existing keys, your security codes, and any new keys. Expect to pay for 1 hour labor to do this. Where are you located? Perhaps someone here can suggest a local shop. Yes, just click on any donate button and follow the directions (PayPal or credit card).

    You don't have to get a PayPal account to donate here - you can use a credit card too. The VIN option info is free service here too - but we only do it for Contributing Members because we don't need to run 30,000 plus of these - not to mention folks that want you to run car(s) "they are considering purchasing".

I store my car in the winter also ( I live in Michigan ) and I start it after the oil change - by doing so you will get the oil through out the system including the oil filter. :lol: We have a very detailed DIY tight here

    Congratulations! 1. Yes, you can buy replacement manuals. I think Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) will have the best prices. But, no Porsche does not have replacement option stickers. Any dealer can run a VIN report and give you a print out of your cars factory options. We can have that done here for our Contributing Members too. 2. The maximum number keys programmed to the car is 4. That includes the valet key. Standard keys that come with the car should be 2 remotes and 1 valet key - so you could add one more. 3. I have not tried that on a US TT Cab so i don't know if you can program it. The RoW alarm control box is a different frequency.

    i'm hoping this wil fix my engine woes, can anyone show me a picture of the IAC valve so i can know what i'm looking for? Have you tried our Search? I searched for ICV and got over 40 results - some with pics, including the following thread. Idle Air Control Valve - how is it supposed to look?
