  1. Does this one (sparkplugs) work? 999.170.221.90 Just received an order from online porsche store, did they send me wrong ones? Thanks! My mistake... you said Turbo. 999.170.221.90 Spark Plugs (14 F-6) -- US MSRP $18.96 each
  2. 999.170.218.90 Spark Plugs (FGR 6 KQE) -- US MSRP $23.60 each :o 948.602.104.05 Ignition coils -- US MSRP $18.21 each
  3. I think you worry too much ;) BMW engines fail too ...and so do Jeeps and so do.... the list goes on and on. Only a small percentage of cars actually have this happen. Depending on engine speed when the bearing lets go it could just be a rattle (like a bucket of bolts) or if you the engine is at high speed then sometimes there is a bang followed by a clatter and lots of oil everywhere - but that is a rare case. If you have a warranty - that is all the more reason not to worry.
  4. No, have a look at TSB 16/08 4440Summer Tires, Wheels and Spacers -- dated Aug 22, 2008 It will explain all the "approved" sizes, widths, and offsets.
  5. P0410 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 1 – Below Limit P1411 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 2 – Below Limit Possible fault cause - Secondary air injection pump is not triggered - Secondary air injection pump does not work - Air supply lines restricted - Electric change-over valve does not function - Air change-over valve does not function - Vacuum system leaking Check to see if the air injection runs at cold start up and look for loose hoses.
  6. I sent you a PM.
  7. Make sure the offsets are correct.
  8. There is very little if any lubrication on the seat rails. Step 1 would be too look under the seat with a flash light and make sure they is nothing caught or binding. If you choose to remove the seat - then do so without the key in the ignition. If you remove the seat with the key in the ignition (even in the off position) you will an airbag fault light.
  9. :welcome: You can get one from any Porsche dealer. Part Number WKD 996 120 99 -- US MSRP $22.96 Chances are Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) can get it a little cheaper.
  10. :welcome: Sorry, but according to Porsche TSB 5/04 4440 Winter Tire, Wheel, & Snow Chain Applications no 16" wheel fit on Boxster S. You will need 17" or 18" wheels.
  11. Control units are fused - not the airbags themselves. A PST or PIWIS can run diagnostics on the airbag system that the Durametric can not. You are sure the clock-spring trigger is not damaged on the steering wheel right?
  12. I think you need to find someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester to confirm the fault and also run diagnostics to narrow down the fault. The airbag controller is pretty expensive (about $573 MSRP as I recall) so I would make sure before doing that. You'd hate to find a broken or frayed wire later...
  13. We have added and/or updated August 2008 TSBs in the following categories (24 TSBs total): 986 - 2 987 - 2 987c - 1 996 - 1 997-1 - 4 997-2 - 2 996 GT3 - 1 997 GT3 - 1 997TT - 3 Cayenne - 3 Cayenne gen 2 - 4 We have added and/or updated September 2008 TSBs in the following categories (20 TSBs total): 987 - 3 987c - 2 997-1 - 2 997-2 - 2 997TT - 1 Cayenne - 2 Cayenne gen 2 - 4 Literature/Other - 4 Total updates: 44 TSBs Notable additions are: Programming the DME for engine compartment blower and fuse change (997, 997TT). MY2005 (only) 997's with noisy front springs/struts. Rough Running Diagnostics for all cars (PIWIS required) PCM2.0 Updates for 986 and 996 series cars with PCM 2.0 Updated Approved Oils list for all Porsche cars (except Cayenne V6)
  14. That is an extension to the console that the coupe and Targa have to fill in the space to the rear seats.
  15. Hi Loren, The airbag light on my 1999 996 just came on. I cleaned it the seat buckles with the contact cleaner. I live in southern california and was wondering if you knew someone who could reset the light for me? Thanks in advance. As I said in response to your PM... I know we have lots of folks down there but I don't know who has Durametric or PST2 or PIWIS testers. They should also read and you should write down the fault code(s) as those will tell you exactly where the problem is.
  16. Ah yes, I see my mistake now - I know it looked to easy. I sent you a PM with info from Cayenne Tequiment.
  17. Where are you located? have you tried Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost)? 999.522.015.00 spring -- US MSRP $2.08
  18. 955.505.547.00 Left front mud flap (spoiler) -- US MSRP $16.68 955.505.546.00 Right front mud flap (spoiler) -- US MSRP $16.68 Looks like it is just one scew that holds it in.
  19. Oh, sorry. They don't seem to have it for the 996 either.
  20. Hmm... I think Tool Pants know the answer to this one... (photo courtesy Tool Pants)
  21. If the key won't go in then you likely have a bad ignition switch. See the DIY in the 996 Common fixes area.
  22. There is an interlock switch on the clutch pedal - chances are it needs adjusting or is bad.
  23. Should be on the airbag screen - ah... maybe Durametric does not have that for Boxster. Well, if you have a PSt2 or PIWIS handy I like to compare engine operating hours with air bag hours. Realize that when you put the key in the ignition (even in the off position) the airbag circuit activates and the airbag hours counter starts. When the engine hours and airbag hour are vastly different - then you need to ascertain if the DME was swapped or the airbag fired or was swapped.
