  1. :welcome: Fault code 4205 Speed sensor lead, front left Possible cause of fault - Short circuit to B+ / ground or open circuit between control unit and speed sensor - Speed sensor faulty - Control unit faulty Sensor should be between 1k ohms and 3k ohms. If not the sensor is bad. Also, clean the toothed ring at the front left for soiling and damage.
  2. 996 Carrera 4S radiators are the same as 996 Turbo -- the 996 C2/C4 are not. You want 996.106. 131.72 Left radiator -- US MSRP $592.20 Check with Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) as after their discount you will likely be paying the same or nearly the same (as the site you referenced) for genuine Porsche parts.
  3. Usually the rotors are too thin - you need a micrometer to measure them and see if they are within spec. Also look for cracks - if a crack goes between two vent holes - they need to be replaced.
  4. If you really want to buy the car spend the $30 for a Carfax and spend $100-$200 for a PPI (pre purchase inspection).

P1118 Oxygen Sensor Heating After TWC, Bank 2 – Above Limit P1118 Oxygen Sensor Heating After TWC, Bank 2 – Below Limit P1118 Oxygen Sensor Heating After TWC, Bank 2 – Open Circuit P1118 Oxygen Sensor Heating After TWC, Bank 2 – Signal Implausible – Heating resistance too low – Short to B+ – Short to ground – Corrosion in connector – Break in wiring except for a few litz wires – Break in wiring – Heating resistance too great – Open circuit in sensor line – Oxygen sensor You will need to run a few resistance checks to find the actual problem. Check resistance of oxygen sensor heating. 1. Remove connector of oxygen sensor 2 after TWC. 2. Connect ohmmeter to pin 1 and pin 2 of the oxygen sensor connector towards the oxygen sensor. Display: < 2.6 Ω at 25 °C Perform adaptation. 1. Switch on the ignition. 2. Wait one minute. Do not press the accelerator. 3. Switch off the ignition for at least 10 seconds. 4. Read out the fault memory. Measure resistance between oxygen sensor housing and oxygen sensor heating. 1. Remove connector of oxygen sensor 2 after TWC. 2. Connect ohmmeter to pin 1 of oxygen sensor housing and oxygen sensor connector towards the oxygen sensor. Display: ∞=Ω 3. Connect ohmmeter to pin 2 of oxygen sensor housing and oxygen sensor connector towards the oxygen sensor. Display: ∞=Ω It will be either a bad connection, wiring, or bad O2 sensor. Most likely the O2 sensor but best to make sure.

  7. Normal amount? Unless the power steering is leaking you should never really need to add any. You might want to pull the front underbody cover off and have a look at the steering rack. Look for signs of small leakage or damage.

  9. :welcome: You likely have the Comfort Seats which would put the heaters on the same fuse. E1 for left seat E2 for right seat If the seats move then fuse is not blown. If that is the case then the control box is likely blown.
  10. You asked how overfilling could affect the CEL - I told you a possibility - I did not say you had a bad AOS. I said check the fault codes.

  12. A MY99 3.4 liter will take 8.98 US quarts with filter change. You can just take the filter off - pout out the contents and put it back on. The only way I can think of too much oil causing a cell is if it gets sucked into the intake (which likely means a bad Air/Oil Separator). You need to have the code read - as it may not be related to the oil overfill.
  13. What model year please? (so we know if it is a 3.4 liter or 3.6 liter as they are different) You need to get the fault code(s) read - there are literally hundreds of faults that turn on the CEL.

  15. PCM 1 has the following options that can be set with a PST2 or PIWIS tester: The PCM (1) can be coded on a country-specific basis with this menu item. The following items can be set on an individual basis: - Vehicle model (LHD vehicle, RHD vehicle) - Language (driving instructions in German, English (GB/USA), French, Italian, Spanish) - Temperature (degrees C, degrees F) - Fuel consumption (1/100 km, mls/gal, mpg, km/l) - Distance (kilometres, miles) - Clock (12 hours, 24 hours) - Time zone (CET, GMT, Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Tokyo) - PCM active (active, not active) In PCM 2.x the language can be set by the owner using the display. if you yuo do not have a PCM 2 Owners Manual you can download it here.

  18. Clamp off the hoses so you let as little air in the system as possible. Open the bleed valve and top up daily for next week and you should be fine. Probably a couple hours work.
  19. so it was a rattle and not a ticking.... and it did not increase in frequency i.e faster rattling or more tapping as the engine revs increased? hmmm... maybe we have a bad lifter instead? When an intermediate shaft goes it (or one of it's bearings) the car will sound like a bucket of bolts and it usually happens all at once (i.e. no warning).

P0430 TWC Conversion, Bank 2 - Above Limit Possible fault cause - Oxygen sensor ahead of and after TWC exchanged - Valve lift fault - Aged oxygen sensor after TWC - TWC faulty Compare the sensor voltages side to side (bank 1 vs. the error'ed bank 2) You will need a PST2 or PIWIS to test the valve lift.
