  1. Do you have a picture of the damage you can post?
  2. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=185
  3. Look at the TSB for list of correct cables for the options he has on the car already. Additional programming may be required with a PIWIS tester.
  4. Usually there is a a tab and/or a button that need to be pushed while pulling the connector off. There are at least a couple versions of that connector.
  5. Another addition here when changing the spark plugs. Check the condition of the cam solenoid brackets (1 per side) - item 27 in diagram below. There have a few instances where these brackets crack or break and cause intermittent fault codes on the 3 cylinders on the cracked side. Thanks to the folks on Rennlist that found this one.
  6. Does the CEL light up when you turn the ignition on? If not, the bulb is likely out. Put a scanner on the car and check the fault codes. All the symptoms point to a bad MAF.
  7. While you are at the dealer ask them to check it with the PIWIS tester. Perhaps run the new car handover program again.
  8. 986 and 996 use the same parts. 987 and 997 do not. As has been seen here - the guy on eBay is wrong.
  9. I think it would be helpful if you could us the model and year of the car and a little about it's history (first owner?, mileage?, any previous issues?). Thanks.
  10. Some tire size issues are manufacturer related. All manufacturers 285 should work fine. A few 295's will fit with little or no rubbing. I am running 285's on the rear of my MY99 C2.
  11. Model an year of your car please.
  12. Get an estimate from an good independent Porsche shop. You quoted prices are way high.
  13. For series 996: MY99 C2 (non-egas) uses 996.606.123.00 (and there is no upgrade) MY99 C4 - MY01 (all egas cars) use 996.606.124.00 (and there is no upgrade) MY02 and newer (egas and 3.6 liter) use 996.606.125.01 (and there is no upgrade) So which intake are you using with which MAF?
  14. This works: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=18982  Yeah, if us **** N00bs would just actually READ the information on here, we'd be in good shape...d'oh! I do not know what code they gave you but... try 5352 or 5350 Unfortunately, those didn't work either... I even tried 5351 :( The dealer gave me 8698. I don't know what to try next...? Did you get the code from the front panel per the FAQ? or was it written somewhere?
  15. Great - I appreciate the help!! WP0CA29885U710102 Um... you are not a Contributing Member. Here is how to become one... click here (then PM me your VIN and give me a day or so).
  16. Not sure if this is helpful carrera mike, but I get a tach signal to my traqmate by tapping into P6 on my 986 ECU. A 9x6 series car is different - you can get the signal off the OBD II connector (as documented here elsewhere). On 9x7 series cars that same signal is no longer there - it is on the CAN bus so you need a device that read CAN bus data (f which there are several).
  17. It is also in the Link section (link at the top right of any page).
  18. As RFM said firther up in this same thread "The same procedure as 996 - 986 - 997 and 987." I guess you didn't look at those? And, of course, your engine fill amount is in the Owner's Manual... as well as documented in the DIY articles here.

  20. The part number for 987 and 997 are different.
  21. We can do that for our Contributing Members.
  22. Did you read the FAQ - I think not. If you did you would not be posting here AGAIN. You need to post these requests in one thread - click here and post at very end of this thread.
  23. Only Contributing Members can view TSBs here. For more information on becoming a Contributing Member click here
