  1. You need to find out what is leaking and where. If you do not feel comfortable doing it yourself then take the car to a good Porsche shop.
  2. Check the clutch switch or bypass it. Windows should not be affected by the seats. Check all of your connections on the new seats (bent pins, cut wires, loose connectors, etc.). Worse case put the old seats back in and see what happens.
  3. Check the clutch switch or bypass it. Also, you did not unplug anything from the box under the drivers seat did you? That is the alarm/drive block control unit.
  4. Please tell us the model, model year and whether this is a US or RoW car.
  5. Try 0859 or 0857 Neither worked... my failing memory was saying 0831, but it's been a while since I had the battery disconnected. I'm now in wait mode. Please read this and follow the instructions... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  6. DRL relay is part number 996.615.111.00 Try a new relay or a known working one from another car.
  7. That all has to do with the vehicle main relay - likely power supply issue. Check your battery(s) - if they are over 4 years old replace them. If they are newer - then have the specific gravity (of each cell) tested as well as load voltage tested.
  8. It is just a solenoid - so either it has power or it doesn't.
  9. Sounds like the door latch (internally) is no longer connected. Perhaps a locksmith can get the door open for you - so it can be repaired.
  10. Welcome back Chad! http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15737
  11. Hi loren, im not too knowledgable with cars ~_~ Do you mind telling me where the drl relay is and what i should look for? Thanks :D The relay is a double relay in positions 6 and 7. The relays are above the fuse bank. 6 7 would be second row from the top - 1st and second positions from the left from the left. If you do not have this relay then it is not likely a Canadian car.
  12. :welcome: Have you tried unlocking the door with your mechanical key?
  13. Check the DRL relay too.
  14. The 996 and 986 use the same seats. I am only 6' but I have to open the the sunroof on my coupe when I wear a helmet.
  15. I had this problem too...airbag light on...ended costing me £350 (approx $700) to replace the airbag ECU...fixed it! So is this stored in flash memory somewhere? Is there anyway to clear that memory rather than replace the Airbag control unit? My concern here is that if that light is on -- will it disable all the airbags? thanks, Mike The airbag light can be cleared with a PST2 or PIWIS - IF (and only IF) the condition that caused it has been corrected. So if it says you have a bad control unit - then it should be replaced (certainly for safety).
  16. No. Have you looked at the interior of a last model (2004+) CLK? Way cooler than a 996. The 996 is very plain. That's not a bad thing, just a fact. The MB interior is beautiful; utilizing a nice blend of wood, leather, etc. The dashboard is way cool, The seat controls look to be easy to understand and operate, and the rear seat is much nicer too (admittedly not a real major issue with a 911). The sound system is light years ahead of the 996. It seems that many 911's from 2002 still came with a cassette player! With the top down, the CLK has a cool looking fairing behind the passenger seats so the lines flow (much nicer than the Audi S4, where the rear headrests stick up and spoil the lines). The MB weighs close to 4000 lbs, which is pretty heavy. I am not that familiar with the brand, so I don't know how expensive parts will be, etc. I have spent years wrenching on my 944's, so for Porsche I know where to get parts, advice, and that sort of thing. I used to own an Audi A8. Tremendous vehicle that perfectly combined speed, size, comfort, and handling. However, it was way over-engineered and exceedingly complicated (it took me over an hour to install the rear license place because you had to disassemble the truck lid to gain access to the mounting bolts. It suffered from all the complexity because silly things like seat motors, cruise control brains, HVAC drains, etc. started to fail. I'm worried that the MB may be the same way. Of course, with the 911 I'm worried about rear main seals and intermediate shaft problems. Anyone have personal experience with either the Audi S4 or MB CLK series? Thanks! Barry Please keep your posts here Porsche related (see the board rules that you agreed to when you registered). If you are doing comparisons that is fine.
  17. Yes, those options have to be turned on with a PIWIS tester.
  18. That does not seem bad to me - the car has over 93,000 miles. Right?
  19. Try having someone push down (gently) on the hood as you pull the cable. Your latch is either broken or badly in need of adjustment..
  20. The brake wear warning light turns on when the circuit is broken - so connect them.
  21. The one rear fog light has been covered here many times - including the empty socket on the other side (which does not work).
  22. We have added and/or updated November 2008 TSBs in the following categories (10 TSBs total): 986 - 1 987 - 1 987c - 1 996 - 1 996TT - 1 996 GT3 - 1 997-2 - 1 997TT - 1 Cayenne - 1 Cayenne gen 2 - 1
  23. What was the part number of the MAF you put in?
  24. Our friends at Sunset Porsche have just sent us a list special sale items. Check out the great deals at Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost link at the top center of any page.
