  1. How can i read out the tiptronic fault memory? and shouldn't the CEL light up if/when the tiptronic logs a failure? I have a generic CEL reader, but it doesn't read Porsche specific codes. And the nearest Porsche service center is like 40 miles away and takes like 8 hours to drive to... So that's out of the question. The Durametric software, a PST2 or PIWIS will be need to read out any faults other than DME faults.
  2. You are correct the Durametric has limited programing capability (but is thousands less dollars than a PIWIS). Is the Durametric capable tp do updates to the MOST ring? No, you would need a PIWIS tester for that.
  3. Does it work with the emergency flashers? If not, you likely have a bad ground or corroded bulb holder.
  4. Are you sure you measured correctly? Beru's are usually pre-gapped. Spec on the 2.7 liter engine is: 1.6 mm + 0.05 mm
  5. Another budding 'know-it-all'. Anyone who says that modifications to an "already great car are in the main, pointless." really doesn't understand performance cars or people. If you've been on the track at all, you'd know what I'm talking about. PLEASE re-read the board Guideline/Rules (that you agreed to when you registered here). "Name calling or harassment of any kind directed towards another member or members will not be tolerated." Please keep your comments on topic and not personal.
  6. I think you need to check for other fault codes. I would erase this code and see if it comes back. P0430 TWC Conversion, Bank 2 – Above Limit Potential causes: – Catalytic converter
  7. IMHO you are best to stick with the factory recommendations - tried and proven.
  8. You are correct the Durametric has limited programing capability (but is thousands less dollars than a PIWIS).
  9. Loren, I have read that some members on this board said that Porsche does not reccommend any sport suspension for the 996 Targa, because you risk of bending the frame over rough roads? I just want to make sure, but you know everyrhing so i guess I will order it form Gert. Thanks ! They say that about Cabs too - but many folks have done it without problems. The MY2002 and newer cars do have stiffer chassis than the early cars.
  10. Is that a joke or is there a newer version coloerd brake switch? Any chance you would have a part number and I think I'll try ordering from Sunset.. No joke. 996.613.113.02 is the latest switch.
  11. 996 and 997 use the same engine - the 996 GT3 and 996 GT3 use an entirely different engine. There is little to compare.
  12. Unless there is a short in the wiring somewhere it almost has to be the brake light switch.
  13. Likely need to be put on a PST2 or PIWIS tester.
  14. In the U.S. the mass sensor value should be around 17 to 19 max on the Kg/hr at idle, your Oxygen sensing Lambda value should be around .98 to 1.05 and your Rkats should be no more than 2% positive or negative, if your reading short and long term values on your tester, then short should not pass 10% positve or neg and likewise for long term. Vizcarra44 According to Porsche the acceptable range at idle (engine warm, no AC, etc.) is 12 - 24 ML in kg/h.
  15. Any US, X74 or RoW Sport suspension is fine for a Targa. Porsche says the MY99 PSE should not be used on 3.6 liter engines - the pipes for the 3.4 are smaller. You should replace the PSE with a 3.6 liter style mufflers.
  16. 987.555.351.00.8C6 Inner door handle (right) in Orange -- MSRP $167.85 (each) 987.555.352.00.8C6 Inner door handle (left) in Orange
  17. Item 8 and item 23? I do not see GT Silver - I do see Galvano Silver

  20. Porsche book time is less than 6 hours - time to shop around.
  21. Yes, that will fit - but it is only part of the system.
