  8. There are engine mechanical changes to make an X51 engine - much more than software. They will have to look and see what the PST (or PIWIS) shows for options when they re-program it. I don't recall any programming changes for X51 - they will have ro see what options are available. As you are now a Contributing Member you can read the Porsche Technik books that list the year to year model changes. They are in the Download section and the private forum for Contributing Members.

Yes, my neighbor that lives down the street from me has a 993 Turbo S, and I have a can of Wurth silver paint, the Wurth silver paint are for all standard silver finnish Porsche wheels, but the 993 Turbo S wheel is a silver polish paint, that is night and day difference compared to the standard silver finnish. Then I have no idea what is on those wheels. You might try a good paint shop to see if they can tell.
  10. Yes, the programs are in both the PST2 or PIWIS testers. You can only select from the ones on the list for that model year - so 997 programs etc. There is likely a 3rd party way of putting a newer program in the car but you do not have the newer engine parts in your car. The sensors and cats on your car will be dependent on the country your car was built for and sold into (and their specific laws). You have not told me either.
  11. The parts list shows the same paint description for Turbo S wheels as the other wheels (silver metallic). Have you compared the paint to 993 or 996 wheels?
  12. One warning - if you are in Germany and the car is built to Germany specs then you could damage the cats by running this program change. Since you are not replacing the DME the old codes and new codes will be the same. Programming 1. Connect and switch on the Porsche System Tester 2 and switch on the ignition. 2. Select 911 (996) in the Vehicle type menu. 3. Select DME in the Control unit menu and press the double arrow key [»]. 4. Select Program control unit in the DME function selection menu and press the double arrow key [»]. 5. Select "Read control units" and press the double arrow key [»]. 6. Select Program control unit in the Control unit programming menu and press the double arrow key [»]. 7. Ensure that all requirements requested on the screen are fulfilled and then press the double arrow key [»]. 8. The following message appears on the screen: "Input Vehicle Ident. Number". Input Vehicle Identification Number and press the double arrow key [»]. 9. The following message appears on the screen: "Please confirm input" Confirm input with the [F7] key. 10. The following message appears on the screen: "Input old DME programming code" Input DME programming code and press the double arrow key [»]. 11. The following message appears on the screen: "Please confirm input" Confirm input with the [F7] key. 12. The following message appears on the screen: "Input new programming code" Input new DME programming code and press the double arrow key [»]. 13. The following message appears on the screen: "Please confirm input" Confirm input with the [F7] key. 14. The following message appears on the screen: "Input new immobilizer code" Input immobilizer code and press the double arrow key [»]. 15. The following message appears on the screen: "Please confirm input" Confirm input with the [F7] key. 16. The following message appears on the screen: "Select data record" Select data record according to the allocation table and press the double arrow key [»]. At this point choose Euro 2 The control module will now be programmed. Programming will take approx. 5-10 minutes. Warning: Never interrupt the programming process 17. The following message will appear after the programming time has elapsed: "Programming was completed successfully" Press the double arrow key [»], switch the ignition off and then on again. This completes programming of the DME control module.
  13. You could also re-program the DME to use the RoW program (which ignores the 2nd O2 sensors). Of course, you would not pass any US smog tests. Loren i want to re-program my DME with ROW to get rid off the 2nd sensor p0139 code,but the dealer say it's not possibile(as far as i figured, he simplly don't know how to do it) please advice It maybe illegal in your country - which maybe why a dealer won't do it. You are likely going around your countries emissions laws. It is all about choosing the DME program. Depending on your model year there are usually 2 to 5 programs to choose from. Thank you Loren here the emissions-admissions tests are not an concern. the dealer simplly don't know how to do it. could you please advice the exact operation wich is to be made trough the piwis? i can try to print it and go to them and try to make it. i am particullary interested also if there is a better version for my DME,i consider to remove the cat's if it's possibile and also i have read your statment that ROW DME programming will pass over the 2 oxygen sensor fault codes wich US DME display it,i have a p0139 fault code since last week please advice Your model year and model car please?

  15. Hopefully you have receipts for the earlier repairs/attempted repairs. You will want to get copies of those to PCNA. Be civil with them and fully explain the history. Ask them to help - that is what they are there for.

  17. This is correct. However when the Porsche radio (eg CDR-23) is on, it's Pin A5 provides +12V to the antenna/amplifier, which could be used as "radio switched" power for an FM modulator.... correct? Theoretically yes. I do not know how power you can draw from the A5 connection as it is intended for the antenna only. If this is a US car why not just use the telephone prep power - there is both switch and unswitched 12 volts there.
  18. Grey/Pink = Speedometer wire (usually used for PCM, PSE, and radio volume control at speed) Black/Blue = Backup signal (not likely used on a Boxster)

  22. Bill is correct. It is called Continuous VarioCam and began in MY2003.
  23. No - none of them work. I think the FOB is dead because there is no light on it. No light means the battery is dead or there is some other internal problem. And your second key?
  24. Loren, do know the paint code for the 993 Turbo S polish paint? I would like to paint my wheels with that polish look finnish because I called Wheel Enhancement and they told me that the paint for the 993 TurboS wheel is not available here in the states, is this true? Porsche does not have a paint code for wheels. All their wheels are made outside of Porsche. Use the Wurth http://www.properautocare.com/wurth1.html
