  3. Yes, you will need the Durametric software or a PIWIS tester to ge the air bag fault code(s).
  4. Porsche's current "Approved Engine Oils" list includes only 0W-40, 5W-40, and 5W-50. The complete TSB is available here to all Contributing Members.
  5. Check for a loose wiper blade (if it's just one wiper) - see the nut item 4. If it is both wipers then check the pivot points (under the cowling).
  6. What is the fault code? (it will pinpoint where the problem is) Brake pad wear sensors are just wires that when worn trough turn on the light - so if your pad sensor light goes on you will need new sensors.
  7. Hi who is the porsche librarian and how can I contact him as I would like a work manual for my 2007 Boxster. regards secuuda PM member "porschelibrarian".
  8. (moved to proper forum) :welcome: Yes, the emergency cable is there on all 986's regardless of model year. You should use it and then inspect the latch (for jamming) and the solenoid for activation.
  9. Normal - no, but it can happen. If the problem that caused the CEL gets corrected and it stays corrected for a certain number of drive cycles then it clears the light. Since this is re-occurring I suggest you find someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester and have them look for "pending fault codes". This will give a clue to cause(s) of the problem.
  10. Since your car is a MY99 this should work... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=63425
  11. If the shifter is out of the car already then you will need to put it in a vise and pull the knob off. The B&M instructions do say to take it off first.
  12. Don't get me wrong it is still quite a bit of work. Perhaps they should review section "19 50 19 Removing and installing coolant pump (engine installed)" of the 996TT service manual.
  13. Make sure they are talking about the water pump - as it is mechanical and driven off the main poly rib belt. And, the water pump CAN be changed with the engine installed. Perhaps it is time for second opinion from another dealer or independent shop...
  14. Yes, those are the latest part numbers (and the only ones currently available).
  15. Try 4504 or 4502 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  16. Anybody need a 17 mm allen socket? I ordered from Sears before checking the fill plug. Both of my plugs are 10 mm allen (2002 911 TT) Note: Most later cars have an 10 mm allen type plugs - we recommend checking before you start. ;)
  17. My 3rd radiator kit (for my 996) was about $400 in 2000. I thought that was a great deal because when I added up the parts priced individually they were over $600. So, I still think a price under $400 is very good.
  18. It is under the cowl cover (plastic guard under the wipers/windshield) on the left side. Let me know if you need more detail.
  19. RFM. This damper is truly available separately here in Europe :D The part number is: 955 423 389 00. The price is around 50$ and just a 3 minutes job to change it out. The solution for this problem is already in the post. It's just 50$.... Correct!! 955.423.389.00 Damper -- US MSRP $32.67
  20. Try 3576 or 3574 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST PLEASE read the FAQ.
  21. :welcome: That is normal for egas cars (MY00 and newer). That is partially open for idle.
  22. Remove the fresh air plenum in the luggage compartment. Not a very good picture but it is under the wipers (labeled 1)
