  1. :welcome: 501 was Turbo Insignia on the older cars but I have not seen that code on a 9x6 series car. Unless it turned into insignia delete? PM me your VIN and I'll see what came on the car.
  2. Just finished. Took me all day. Wanted to make sure that i cleaned the radiators really well. I cut the hole for the center radiator 4"x18". Seemed to work out. It looks good but I don't think the rubber ducting around the center radiator is right. It looks like it is drooping down in the top center? I think your right. I am going to remove the front bumper again anyway. Seems i replace the passenger hose on the top, not the bottom. Dumb me. The ducting can only fit one way right? I will go in and look at it again. Maybe i didn't get the tabs in all the way. Well, yes and no. Here it is on my car. When you fit the bumper make sure the flexible center duct fits into the bumper properly too.
  3. :welcome: I think you may have failed to notice that TSBs can be viewed here by our Contributing Members. I found a TSB called 6182 6 9613 Cabriolet Top Control unit Models Affected: 911 Carrera, 911 Turbo, MY 1986 - 89 and 911 Carrera 2/4, MY 1990 to 1994 and 911 Turbo, MY 1991, 92 and 94 Concern: The Cabrio top control unit is now superseded to the type used in the 911 Carrera (993). The original equipment part for the above mentioned models is no longer available. Do you think this is what you are after?

  5. Try 8576 or 8574 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  6. Please read the FAQ - this only works for CR and CDR radios.
  7. The service manuals have a functional description of all the ABS, ABS/TC, and ABS/PSM systems used in the 9x6 cars. They also have troubleshooting.
  8. The L.A. dismantler has one for around $130 in what looks like an unused condition, but the p/n on a photo of the unit the unit reads: 997.652.053.01. A series of photos shows a pump in a trapezoidal shaped case with compartments for the air line plus gauge and the connector to the cigar lighter socket. The outside of the housing has several pictographs illustrating the operating instructions. What's the significance of the slight difference in part numbers? The dismantler says that the unit is from a very low mileage 997, but no MY is given. Thanks. That is an older part number. There are 3 or 4 different compressors. Some of the compressors are shaped differently to fit in the 4WD cars.
  9. I don't know - It does not seem like you have to do anything if you switch ABS control boxes.
  10. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...st&p=114967 I do not recommend this - unless you have a full time track car.
  11. Step 1 - Look at the car's options codes and see which amp came with the car. Step 2 - See what other options like CD Changer and Sat radio are on the option list. Those are all options but that does not mean they were all installed.
  12. If you replace the ABS/PSM controller and hydraulic unit you will be most of the way there. But you will have one extra line. Compare these two diagrams and perhaps you can see what else needs to change.

  14. hey Loren, I read most of your posts, around 180 never much higher. I am the second owner and i've had the car over 2 years. Thanks 180 is normal. Well, sorry to tell you but it sounds like perhaps the rear decklid has been repainted. Do what number9ine suggested and post a pic so we can see the damage. Yeah it looks bad and feels worse, if the fan in the decklid goes out would that cause heat to "spill out" and damage the paint? I've never heard that fan running. Thnks And you may likely never hear it run - it is a purge fan and it pulls cool air into the engine compartment when the engine gets very hot. Sorry, but I doubt it has anything to do with engine heat.
  15. You already posted this once - please do not double post. Re-read the board Guidelines/Rules that you agreed to when you registered here. "Please post your messages in one forum only. Crossposting, double posting, triple posting, etc. are all a waste of time and valuable resources. If you post the same message in multiple times or in multiple forums, we will delete the ones we feel are inappropriate." This topic is closed - please use the other topic.
  16. To turn the front fog lights on you pull the switch out one notch. To turn the rear fog light on you pull the switch out two notches.

  18. Are you the first and only owner? Please define "hot" - 180 degrees? 220 degrees?
  19. Yes, there are instructions from Porsche (TSB) - available to view for our Contributing Members.
  20. C2951 is correct the oil pressure sender for the 996 is 14 mm x 1.5 mm. The oil pressure sender (light only) for the Boxster is also 14 mm x 1.5 mm. The 996 part fits fine - I have personally installed 3 in different Boxsters.
  21. I am pretty sure the bolt patterns line up on 997S but not normal 997's. You should read the lengthy discussion here.
  22. VarioCam Plus started in MY02 with the 3.6 liter engines. A slight hesitation at about 3000-3400 RPM. VarioCam is a bit more complicated and takes 4 page of the tech book to explain it. As a Contributing Member you can read it here. Look for the MY02 Carrera Technical Information Book.
  23. Try 1536 or 1534 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  24. Thank you again for your contribution. Sport exhaust for MY05-08 997-1 997.044.200.02 replaced 997.044.200.01 and 997.044.200.03 replaces both. So, 997.044.200.03 is the current part number. Any difference between the 3 numbers? I just purchased the 02 for my car and got a pretty good deal on it (am I allowed to post prices?) I got it from an OPC down in Jersey and it is getting shipped to me this week. Comes with Mufflers L/R, PSE tips and wiring. I've been trying to contact the guys at "suncoast" but they're giving me a bit of trouble, not providing me quotes unless I sign a CC authorization with them for an amount prior to my order which makes no sense to me. I would love to use them, but the lack of service is changing my mind. Sam Most likely just vendor changes. One is likely as good as the other.
