  1. Front should be 350 mm - rears you will need to check but are likely 330 mm.

  3. Noise in the Dashboard Area Loren, thanks for your unbelievably quick reply. I checked and I don't believe this noise is a rattle, etc. It could be described as the firing sound of a machine gun, or a jack-hammer, but softer and quieter for sure. Don't laugh, but I can almost duplicate it by blowing hard out of my mouth and "rattling" my tongue. Very weird. It's like the sound my portable tirepump makes when the battery is running down, but at a constant speed. Does this help? Do a search in the 996 TSBs for the word "noises". That will bring several TSBs. See if any of those relate yo your noise.
  4. Hi Loren. Sorry to bring back and old post, but what could be the cause if the knocking occurs when the engine is warm? Could it be only bad gas. Thanks Tapping could still be lifters or a stick lifter. Knocking could be bad gas - but that is usually associated with rough running. A really bad knock could be an IMS about to go.
  5. If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST I will only respond to lost radio requests in the thread linked in the FAQ - so read the FAQ. This topic is closed.

  13. No, it just slides on. Just the opposite - you need to remove those to get to the bolts that hold the seat in place. If you remove the seat with the key in the ignition you will an airbag light.
  14. I myself am in need of an aligment. I have a question that I cannot find an answer for. Loren- thanks for posting the specs on those three different suspensions. I just bought a 2004 Boxster S 550 Spyder Special Edition. Info I can find says it's suspension is 10mm lower than a normal Boxster S. I'm "guessing" that makes it an ROW suspension? Or is it ROW sport? I'm not sure. Can anyone give me some input? Thanks, -Tom The MY04 550 Spyder Special Edition did not get any special suspension - so it has the same suspensions the MY04 Boxster S. (The MY04 Order Guides can be downloaded on the Order Guides section). If it is lower then it likely had someone change the suspension to the RoW Sport suspension. Best way to find out for sure what is on the car is to get the color markings and the front and rear springs. If you look in the parts list there are no special suspension parts marked M091. Can you get the color codes on the springs - if you can I can likely tell you what springs are on the car.
  15. :welcome: There is supposed to be a fuse map on the inside of the fuse door/cover - did you look there?

  17. Yes, as of MY03 the tubes are metal and should never need replacement.
  18. I have a 03 Carrera (Narrow Body) I also would like to install OEM front turbo bumper. Question: Will there be a fitment problem for a Narrow Body?? Did you read the post you quoted? I said it will fit - BUT you need to change to the TT bumper re-enforcement or cut your bumper re-enforcement.
  19. Please do not double post. Your second post on the same subject has been deleted. Please re-read the board Guideline/Rules that you agreed to when you registered here. "Please post your messages in one forum only. Crossposting, double posting, triple posting, etc. are all a waste of time and valuable resources. If you post the same message in multiple times or in multiple forums, we will delete the ones we feel are inappropriate."
  20. We have added downloadable PDFs for new Porsche Maintenance Checklists. They cover what Porsche now calls "Maintenance" and "Intermediate Maintenance" for US/Canada cars. They are available for:MY09 Boxster/Cayman (987-2/987-C2)MY09 Carrera (997-2)(These do not cover the 997 TT).These new downloadable versions can be printed. You will find them in the Maintenance Checklist section
  21. You will need to tell folks here your model year as the MY02 and newer cars are very different.
  22. Wire colors are not unique to specific functions (in 99.9 % of the cases) - so do not bet on that specific wire. Find switch with illumination and tell me the wire colors and I will look them up - but I can't look up all the grey/red wires in the car. How about this? There should be a MOST fiber optic connector, and then 3 regular connectors (with copper wires) that plugs into the back of the PCM 2.1 head unit. Attached is a photo of the connectors. I'm assuming that one of the copper leads is in fact an illumination wire, but I have no way to tell. If you can find the pin-outs for these 3 connector, or just the one that is illumination, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Bryan Sorry, none are an illumination wire. From looking at the schematic it would appear that the PCM unit get a network signal over the CAN bus to turn on it's own internal illumination.
