  1. This topic is closed - the question has been answered. May I remind all of one of the board rules here "If you feel the need to flame other individuals, companies or message boards then your participation will not be welcome here."
  2. They are the same physical units (DME 7.8.x)- but the programming is likely different for different size engines. Hmm... maybe Todd knows for sure but he newer DME's are expecting input from other devices that a 9x6 series car does not have.
  3. :welcome: Start by checking the fuse panel (fuses) on the left front lick panel. If the radio fuse is okay there then go on to checking the fuse on the back of the radio. The radio will need to come out of the dash to do that - the removal tools have been covered here elsewhere (do a search). In a few cases the amp sometime just dies - so that would be the worst case.
  4. Please use lower case - so much easier to read. Also, please post codes from Durametric - I have just gone through the same problem on my Turbo and resolved it. Have them re-check the coil packs and that they are properly connected.
  5. Did you try a search???
  6. Yes, that is the outside air temperature probe. The HVAC system uses it. OBC can be turned on in any car. What year and model please?
  7. Look for the short shifter DIY (B&M instructions). Posted here many times...
  8. How old is your battery? 4 years or more and it is likely the problem. Have it load tested and also the specific gravity of each cell tested.
  9. Try 0142 or 0140 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  10. I have a folder, that has pink copies of the inspection forms (however there are only 2 pages). There is nothing on there about exterior cosmetic condition... the only thing listed is that the car needed an allignment which they performed along with the first scheduled maintanance. Every other box was checked pass, but nothing listed about cosmetic condition. Any idea who I could contact within Porsche? should I go to my local dealer? Thanks, Dan Start with your local dealer - they can call in Porsche. Have them show you a (blank) 4 page CPO inspection form - so you know what you are missing.
  11. Do a search? Short answer - Yes, but you will need a turbo/C4S bumper re-enforcement or cut the one on your car.
  12. Try 4406 or 4404 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Hey Loren, thanks for getting back to me so fast. I tried the codes you suggested and unfortunetly they didnt work. I read on your FAQ that sometimes you might have to try two digit interval numbers. Should I try: 4402, 4400 & 4408, 4410??? Also, after you input your code your supposed to press "UP" on the tuner correct?? The thing that changes the station and also the cd track on the right side of the head unit. (not the volume control on the left side) <------ correct me if Im wrong. Thanks for your help....and sorry for all the questions!!!!  Yes, try two digits in either direction. If the code is correct you don't press anything - after the fourth digit it starts working.
  13. I think you would need to get the Service Information Books for each model and compare what they. We have the 997-2 book here in the Contributing Members download area - but we have not gotten the 987-2 or 987C2 yet.
  14. Ask to see the 4 page CPO inspection forms (if they did not give you a copy). If you accepted the car with the items noted then I am afraid you are stuck with the minor dings. If not, or if they are not noted on the CPO form then perhaps ask for Porsche to step in.
  15. Thanks! Seeing that it's a 996 part no., would the instructions for removing the 997 3.8 air cleaner housing posted in the Mar 15, 2009 DIY 3.8 Air Cleaner change forum still apply? Mine looks exactly the same as the posting's illustrations http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=8459. To digress a bit, I noticed a "black box" with a filler cap just above the inlet duct, which can also be seen in the instruction's illustration. The cap is inscribed "Only hydraulic oil Pentosin CHF 11 S". Is this the filler for the clutch fluid, and is the nipple on top of the box the bleeder valve? Yes, that DIY should be fine for a 3.8. The pump with the "Pentosin only" is the power steering. On non-tubro cars the clutch shares brake fluid from the (front) brake fluid reservoir.
  16. Probably 999.702.255.41 plug -- US MSRP $1.92
  17. Much easier to do with the rear bumper off - which is really easy. It's pretty straight forward - expect the nuts on the turbos to get mangled - but new nuts and washers in advance.
  18. For MY05 997-1 S (only) 996.110.131.52 air cleaner -- US MSRP $40.64
  19. Try 9173 or 9171 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  20. Try 4788 or 4786 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  21. Try 4406 or 4404 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  22. Try 2609 or 2607 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  23. Do a search - there are others trying to do that same... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=26988
  24. The plastic clips that hold the defroster trim in place will likely break. Start at the center and work towards the corners - that will give you a little more flex. If the car has been in the sun a lot then the plastic will be brittle and may break.
