  1. Cannot find any Cracked coil or plug......is it possible that the on board computer has been shorted out? If so can it be reprogramed....I thought if you unplugged the MAF it should run better? Thank for any help...Paul. As RFM said the MAF has nothing to do with a misfire on one cylinder. A bad DME would not run at all (in most cases) and throw many spurious errors. I suggest you swap the spark plug to the next cylinder and see if the fault follows it. If it does you know where your problem is. If it does not, then swap the coil pack to the next cylinder and again see if it follows the part.
  2. Sorry, if you can't see anything obvious it could be a time cracked hose somewhere and only a PIWIS will help diagnose where.
  3. :welcome: There is no relay in a 987-1 for the spoiler - it is controlled by the Rear Control unit (which is solid state). Possibilities are a bad switch, or a bad control unit program (needs re-programing), a bad microswitch in the spoiler assembly (usually you would get a fault warning), or a bad control unit. You really need a PIWIS tester to do a proper diagnosis. It will tell you what part of the circuit is working and what part is not - plus you can re-program the control unit if that appears to be the fault. I suggest you find a shop with a PIWIS - unless you live near me (I have a PIWIS tester).
  4. Hi ToolPants, I was taking a look yesterday, but was unable to find this on my 02 boxster. I looked in the front trunk area, underneath the plastic covers on the side of the battery. Am I looking for this in the right place? Further forward in front of the brake fluid reservoir. Oh okay, awesome... and then, how can I identify which wire is the correct one to wire up to the added on daytime running foglights? Just need a 12v pos and ground... I'm currently wired up to the sidemarkers, but would rather wire it up so that it comes on by itself with the ignition... You will need to look at the schematic for your specific model year.
  5. Sorry, that chart is wrong. The offsets are all wrong - DO NOT use that chart. For a MY1999 car Porsche approved wheels and offsets are spelled out in a TSB. Front offset is 50 - 52 mm. Rear offset is 63 - 65 mm. No 19 inch wheels are approved by Porsche for use on any 996 series car. Thanks for the help..So your telling me that I can not put 19's on this car at all?? WoW?!? Just ruined my day You can put anything you want on your car - I am just saying what Porsche approves (and does not approve).
  6. I think you need to find a shop with a PIWIS tester and a knowledgeable Porsche tech.
  7. Winter wheels are different story. See TSB 14/07 4440 Overview of Winter Tires, Wheels and Snow Chains (C4, C4S) -- dated Dec 15, 2008 18" wheels are okay with the proper sized tires.

  10. If you look at TSB 2/06 4440 Overview of Summer Tires, Wheels & Spacer Rings (C4, C4S) -- dated Apr 18, 2006. That TSB will tell you all of the approved (summer) wheel and tire sizes for your car. Only 19" wheels are approved for summer 997-1 C4S use.
  11. Please read this and follow the instructions... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST I will only answer radio code request in the thread that is linked at the end of the FAQ. This topic is closed.
  12. P0102 says your MAF is either not connected or bad. Check the wiring and/or replace the MAF. Clear the codes and see if the O2 sensors come back to normal (no codes). P1455 says the AC condensor has an open circuit also. But it is not related to the engine MAF issue.
  13. C4 and C4S do not use the same wheel offsets.
  14. P1182 Positive Crankcase Ventilation Output Stage – Open Circuit Possible causes: - Fuse F50 faulty (fuse carrier, dashboard, on the left) - Break in wiring in voltage supply of positive crankcase ventilation heater - Break in wiring in connection to ground of positive crankcase ventilation heater - Positive crankcase ventilation heater faulty (heating resistance too high) - DME control module faulty P0507 Idle Air Control at Stop - Above Limit Possible causes: - Leaks in intake air system - Leaks in crankcase ventilation - Throttle adjusting unit faulty P0021 Adjustment of Inlet Camshaft in relation to Crankshaft, Bank 2 – Signal Implausible Possible causes: - Dirt in oil circuit - Sealing strips on inlet camshaft adjuster faulty - Oil pressure too low - Mechanical fault in inlet camshaft adjuster - Magnetic hydraulic valve fault P2187 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 (RKAT1) - Above Limit Possible causes: - Incorrect main charge signal - Intake air system leaking - Fuel pressure too low - Volume supply of fuel pump too low - Mechanical fault in injection valves - PCV valve leaks - Cap of oil filler neck leaking - Leaks in exhaust system - EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open) - EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults P2189 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 (RKAT2) - Above Limit Possible causes: - Incorrect main charge signal - Intake air system leaking - Fuel pressure too low - Volume supply of fuel pump too low - Mechanical fault in injection valves - PCV valve leaks - Cap of oil filler neck leaking - Leaks in exhaust system - EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open) - EVAP canister purge valve output stage faults The pattern here still says PVC or other air leaks. Look for cracked, broken, or split tubing and hoses. If you can not find anything you will likely need a PIWIS tester to track down the exact cause.
  15. Try 9339 or 9337 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Tried both and still didn't work, thanks for the effort. If you have any more it would be greatly appreciated. thanks PLEASE READ THE FAQ.
  16. This thread is for 996 TT - so no it not the same.
  17. hi Loren could you please send me the same PM as well thanks a lot Tiptronic Transmission Service
  18. See the DIY Izzy wrote a while back - Tiptronic Transmission Service. Obviously look for any dmage to the outside of the pan and lines before removing anything.
  19. Try 9339 or 9337 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  20. Start by making sure it isn't a blown fuse. I've seen a solenoid go bad - but still pretty rare.
  21. Probably not - your transmission is in front of the engine - so any oil that is blown from a leak would likely go to the engine (rear). Best have your Tiptronic checked soon.
  22. Those two part numbers are compatible and should run fine. Was anything else done at the same time?
  23. Have a look at TSB 27/07 6690 Trailer Hitch (I-no. 1D6) - that is what is referenced in the Tequipment Cayenne for that option.
  24. P0153 Oxygen Sensor Ahead of TWC, Bank 2 – Below Limit Oxygen sensor is dynamically inert - replace the sensor. What sensor did you use as a replacement? Some of the sensors sold on the Internet have been know to be the wrong spec or have short lives.
  25. I do not know for sure - just relaying Porsche's comments.
