  1. Check behind the pedals at the master cylinder and see if there is any weeping. If so, then the master cylinder is leaking and will need to be replaced. A good booster will lose some pedal pressure (with the engine off) as the vacuum is used. But the pedal should only go so far and then get firm. If it continues to go down then it may be the master cylinder.
  2. I assume you are not getting any brake warning lights (pad wear or low fluid)? PSM or ABS lights? Does the pedal sink after first application?
  3. Yes, more or less. If they are old then sometimes they break or the insulation comes off the wires. The brake wear sensors are just wires that when worn through break the circuit and turn on the brake wear light.
  4. If you have headlight washers (factory Litronics) then it sounds like a hose behind the bumper. The rest of the pumps and tank are in the upper left front fender well. These are accessible after removing the wheel well liner (and tire/wheel).
  5. Please get a service manuals and read through the process. The transmission comes out first or both the engine and transmission together. If you take the transmission out first the engine will need to be supported. Again, please buy a repair manual and study up on this so you don't do damage.
  6. Try 4957 or 4955 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  7. Why did you post this twice? Please re-read the board Guidelines/Rules that you agreed to when you registered here. This topic is closed.
  8. Try 0311 or 0309 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  9. I would just buy new wear sensors - sounds like those are shot.
  10. :welcome: Please give our search a try next time - many problems have already been addressed here. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9988 http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?s...ost&p=11274
  11. :welcome: Thant is normal - only one rear fog light. That way people do not confuse a fog light with brake lights. More discussion here
  12. Yes, you can safely drive with it open for a week or so. Just be sure to check the coolant level daily until you are sure it not dropping.
  13. I would change the fluid - if you don't know when it was last changed. If that does not do it then test the booster.
  14. Loren - thanks for this. You don't happen to have a part number handy and a place I can buy a replacement gas tank cap do you? Thanks! US car? If so, use 996.201.241.03 Fuel tank cap w/ clip -- US MSRP $13.07 or go all out with the optional aluminum look cap 997.201.980.00 -- US MSRP $163.39
  15. P0650 Check Engine Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) – Open Circuit Fault area – Break in wiring – Short to ground – Short to B+ (+12 volts) I would wait and see if it reoccurs.
  16. P0456 Fuel Tank Ventilation System (Minor leak) - Below Limit Possible fault cause - Tank cap seal - One or several leaks in fuel tank ventilation system Check the o-ring on the gas cap too. In a few rare cases the EVAP canister purge valve cracks or leaks.
  17. Item 7 - 999.073.227.07 self tapping screw -- US MSRP $0.38 each Item 8 - replaced by item 9 (no longer available) Item 9 - 999.507.072.02 speed nut 4.8 -- US MSRP $2.028 each
  18. Please read this and follow the instructions... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST I will only answer radio code requests in the one thread linked at the end of the FAQ. This thread is now closed.
  19. CELs are triggered by emission related non-compliance events - so no, that should not have any effect.
  20. If the battery is disconnected then the DME will need to relearn idle and your driving style - that is normal. As far the CEL - you need to have the fault code(s) read. There are several hundred things that can cause a CEL.
  21. Please read this and follow the instructions... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST I will only answer radio code requests in the one thread linked at the end of the FAQ. This thread is now closed.
  22. Please try search here the firing order and engine layout has been posted many times.
  23. :welcome: P0430 TWC Conversion, Bank 2 – Above Limit Possible causes: – Catalytic converter The MAF likely had nothing to do with this fault. If you clear the code and it continues to come back then you likely do have a bad cat. Depending on where you live and whether they have a smog inspection requirement you will want to be careful that you use a cat that will pass those inspections. Some aftermarket cats are sold for racing purposes and will not pass smog tests. Of course you might find a used on (from the same engine/year) and that could be a less expensive route.

  25. P1128 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 – Above Limit P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 – Above Limit Possible causes: – Incorrect signal from MAF sensor – Intake air system leaking – Fuel pressure too low – Volume supply of fuel pump too low – Fuel injectors fouled – Exhaust system leaking The sensors are not bad - the sensors are telling the DME that fuel/air mixture is too lean. The DME has increased the richness to it's maximum threshold. What this means is that there is either air leaking letting or air into the throttle body or the MAF air readings are wrong. Use the Durametric to read the MAF. The MAF should read (for a MY00 996): At idle -- 12-24 ML in kg/h At no load (AC off) and 3000 RPM -- 50-80 ML in kg/h If it does not read within these limits then you can try cleaning the MAF and retesting. If that does not help you will likely need a new MAF.
