    Yes and no. The Turbo uses the later style Bi-Xenon headlights. The MY02 and newer C2, C4, C4S uses the same headlight as the Turbo. The older C2 and C4 use the earlier Litronic headlights.

    Hi From the VIN you provided your car is Carrera Coupe S. 997-1 Model Year 2006. Engine Code M97.01 3.8 Liter built in 2005 and Trans. Code A97.01. I attached a pdf with this information and all of the original option codes as ordered from Porsche for your VIN. Hope this helps. DC Is the information shown in the PDF readily available? Any dealer/OPC should be able to give you the same printout through their PET (parts) system.

    Haven't heard much about 2nd gen, but all 1st gen Cayenne's 2003-2006 are plagued with this problem. Not a matter of if, its a matter of when they will fail. My 06 CS had them replaced at 27k and when I checked one it had the same part # (ending in 00) as my 04CS that was built in 03. There are updated coils used now for replacement but it is questionable if they are any better. Yes, the TSB (16/07 2820 Bar Ignition Modules on V8 engine (16/07) -- dated Jan 22, 2009) on the Ignition coils includes Gen 2 Cayenne.

    This is not what came in your car but it works better with plugin chargers, radar detectors, etc. 996.652.101.10.A05 socket -- Sunset price $8.28 996.652.102.10 lighter surround -- sunset price $4.52 Sunset prices are from 2008 so they might be slightly higher now.

    It is possible - yes. You will need to get buddy buddy with a Porsche tech to borrow his pin removal tool and replacement electrical socket kit. Worst case you could replace the engine wiring harness -- at MSRP $1399.83 :eek:

    P0134 Oxygen Sensor Ahead of TWC, Bank 1 – Interruption of Signal P0343 Camshaft Position Sensor 1 – Above Limit P0447 EVAP Canister Shutoff Valve (Output Stage) – Open Circuit P0453 Tank Pressure Sensor – Above Limit P1670 Electric Change-over Valve, Variable-Length Manifold (Output Stage) – Above Limit These are very different problems - I think you need to find a shop that can sort out what is going on with this car.

    As I have said here many times before - the manuals on this site have maybe 30 of the 88 supplements/updates for the 996 service manuals. So they are wrong in some places and have whole sections missing in others.

    Loren, Called porsche dealer to take an appointment, should I buy the piwi or the durametric? what is it? should every porsche owner has one? Thanks PIWIS is Porsche tester tool and you can lease it for about $18,000 per year. Durametric software runs on your laptop and can diagnose and do many fundemental programming/resets on Porsche car - about $287. Durametric

    You need to find a shop with a PIWIS tester or a friend with the Durametric Software and read the fault code(s). Without the fault codes everything is just a guess.

    If you have a multi-meter you can always try you confirm the voltage at the horns. My bet is that both horns are bad.

    P0455 Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (large leak) Possible cause of fault - Tank cap not tightened correctly, faulty or missing - Mechanical fault in EVAP canister purge valve (does not close fully) - Leakage diagnosis pump leaking internally (membrane) or externally - Mechanical fault in EVAP canister shutoff valve (does not close fully when power is supplied) - EVAP canister shutoff valve connections leaking - Tank system (including pipes) leaking Check the o-ring on the gas too - not just that it is tight.

    :welcome: 1. Yes, just make sure it is an older version CD/Radio. Not the newer (CDR-23) version which is fiber optic (only for MY03 and newer). 2. Do a search here for Tiptronic knob removal and then remove and inspect the parts for wear. Chances are something is worn or broken. If you have to replace the knob there are a variety of color and style choices. MSRP starts at about $150 but Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) can get you much better pricing.

    With all due respect to the shop - how did they check the sensor? Per manual procedures as I listed above?

    P0336 Engine Speed Sensor Signal – Open Circuit The distance of the sensor is not adjustable. From the service manual... "The steel toothed ring is stamped from sheet steel. Take great care when installing and removing the flywheel, because force acting on the steel toothed ring can deform it, leading to a defective signal." Connect ohmmeter connector part to rpm/crankshaft position sensor, pins 1 and 2. Display at 20 °C: 0.8 – 1.0 ohms -- Not ok -- Replace rpm/crankshaft position sensor. Connect ohmmeter connector part to rpm/crankshaft position sensor, pins 1 and 3. Display: infinite ohms -- not ok -- Replace rpm/crankshaft position sensor.

    Just to clarify technically the Cayenne has 4 horns. There is the alarm (signal) horn. There is a backup horn (if activated). There are two vehicle warning horns - high and low pitch. Operated from the steering wheel. The vehicle horns are cheap horns and are know to be a failure item. Check the left fuse panel F53 and F33.

    :welcome: Start by checking the fuse - C6 (that would be third row from the top 6th fuse from the left). It should be 25A. Make sure it is good, clean and fits tight in the fuse panel. The motor should be fairly easy to test as well as the delay switch. The dealy switch is just a potentiometer so it should change resistance when rotated - either it works or it is open (and needs to be replaced).
