  1. Ok - I thought you said this happened when you disconnected the PCM? Do your brake lights work? If not check fuse B7 - stop lights, cruise control.
  2. Not sure - it could be that OBC needs to be reprogrammed (with a PST2 or PIWIS tester) when no PCM is present. I have never tried - but that sounds logical.
  3. The Retail Parts Price Search feature (for our Contributing Members) has been updated to reflect February 2010 retail pricing for the US and Canada. We try to update this on a monthly basis as the price lists come available to us. For February 2010 the parts price list support: US: 240,942 parts Canada: 240,929 Thanks again to Contributing Member Porschelibrarian!
  4. Disconnecting the battery will not reset the airbag light. The airbag is a safety feature - you would not want an auto-reset on power loss to reset it. (Then half the used car sales people would be doing that!) Check with your local Porsche club members - surely someone has a Durametric, PST2, or PIWIS tester they can reset it with.
  5. Yes, but I don't like Super Blue because over time it will dye your (plastic) lines and tank blue. ATE Gold Brake Fluid Type 200 has exactly the same properties as Super Blue.
  6. Yes, RFM is correct 315 MHz is US frequency.
  7. I doubt it is your ABS - does the ABS light come on when this happens? If not, then it is highly doubtful. Brake/Clutch Fluid Change and Bleeding Instructions
  8. You did not need the stalk - the buttons on the PCM 1 controlled what was displayed.
  9. Other than drawing some fluid out and measuring it I don't know of another way other than a PST2 or PIWIS tester.
  10. Another member here used an Oregon Scientific temperature meter with a probe. Tiptronic Transmission Service
  11. Air in the lines? When was the brake fluid last changed and bleed?
  12. Try 5545 or 5543 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  13. Hmm... both of those are controlled in the OBC control unit. Many MY2005 cars have had problems with these control units losing their program and either have to be be re-programmed or replaced. Chances are that is what is needed in this case.
  14. I7K3 = Tire Pressure Monitoring, 433 MHz I7K4 = Tire Pressure Monitoring, 315 MHz
  15. 1. Yes, it may be okay. You rally need to put the car a lift for a through inspection. 2. Yes. 3. & 4. Contributing Members get viewing access to Porsche's Service Information Books. These books describe most of the working's and changes for each model year.
  16. Looks to me like the rust/water that comes out of the cross-drilled brake discs after you wash the car. I usually take a short drive after washing and then wipe this off before it drys. I use Regex to keep stuff from sticking to the wheels.
  17. I agree with Bill - don't let some salesperson "push" you into a "deal". There are lots of good used Porsche's out there and prices are as low as ever - so get one you will be happy with.
  18. Normal procedure is the clean the oil off - run the car for a few minutes to get it warm and then try to location the source of the leak. That is what I would do.
  19. This is the Oil Change DIY article - please take any oil related discussions to the many threads already here on the same subject. Folks come here to learn how to change their oil - not anything else.
  20. From the Durametric website: " Second release of Durametric 6.0 * Added Coverage for 996 and Boxster (986) * Many new features that are not available in Durametric 5. Here are some examples: o Enabling and disabling the On Board Computer (OBC). Even though this is technically "coding," it is included in both the Enthusiast and Professional kits o Clearing fault codes on Alarm, along with other alarm features like activations and input signals o Brake bleeding o Convertible top calibration on 996 Cabriolet o Activations on most modules o Coverage for every possible control module on Boxster and 996. New for version 6.0: Litronic headlight control(HBA), Roll-over protection, Park assist, and Targa control modules o Coding on some modules o Actual values on more modules o And much more..."
  21. I do not not if the Durametric software has that option in the convertible top controller or not. The PST2 and PIWIS do have the option. It takes the top and slowly runs it through it's full retraction and extended positions and reset the limits for the microswitches. Whenever any parts are changed on the convertible top is recommended to re-calibrate the top.
  22. That signal gets sent from the Convertible top control unit so you might check disconnected or damaged microswitches. Also, did you recalibrate the top?
