  1. Please do not double post - you already posted this in another thread. Please re-read the Board Guideline/Rules that you agreed to when you registered here. Yes, if you replace the fuel pump or fuel level sensor the gauge/sensor needs to be re-calibrated using a Porsche PST2 or Porsche PIWIS tester.
  2. Sometimes PET shows the thread sizes on screw, plugs, etc. - but in the case of the oil tank they do not. So, someone would need to measure it. On the case drain there is an insert in the case that is 20 x 1.5 mm - but that is likely the outside measurements. Again, best to get each of the plugs and measure them.
  3. Instead of starting a new thread with the same exact answer, i'll bring this one up. Does anyone know this?? The only thing Fumoto could tell me about the plug was that it was a 22mm plug which Porsche generally uses in their cars, but he wasn't certain the oil TANK plug was 22 mm. Can anyone confirm the oil TANK plug as being 22mm?? Thanks, Dennis This is covered in the 996TT Oil Change DIY here
  4. Sometimes you get funny faults when you try to lock the car before the door is closed. It was the same way on the 9x6 and 9x7-1 series cars. Don't know about the PDK fault haven't run into that one yet.
  5. Correct 19 mm. I would buy 6 point sockets - they are stronger.
  6. Mounting the GT3 bumper does not require any more (or different) parts than the standard bumper.
  7. I suspect that is used make sure the radiator fans pull air through the condenser and not around it.
  8. Just bleed until it is clearer than the previous fluid. Usually easy to tell and only a few seconds of time. You just be able to bleed the whole system (including the clutch) with under 1 liter of brake fluid.
  9. Yes, but not over 45 degrees C. It is "at" 45 degrees C.
  10. Try 0995 or 0993 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  11. P0102 Mass Air Flow Sensor - Below Lower Limit possible causes: - Open circuit - Short circuit to ground P0442 Fuel Tank Ventilation System {Micro-leak} - Below lower limit possible causes: - One or more leaks in fuel tank ventilation system Looks like separate problems... P0102 Make sure the MAF sensor is plugged in. I've seen techs accidentally forget to plug it back in after replacing the air filter. P0442 Look for leaks in the vent lines, shut off valve, and EVAP canister purge valve.
  12. per the Porsche service manual "The filler screw must be closed no later than when an ATF temperature of 45 degrees C is reached."
  13. Thanks to Sandy for this great DIY... (I've done this on my car and it is not very hard to do. The instructions are very detailed.) Sidemaker_mod.pdf
  14. How to make your sidemarkers flash Thanks to Sandy for this great DIY... (I've done this on my car and it is not very hard to do. The instructions are very detailed.) Sidemaker_mod.pdf Author Loren Category Carrera (996) - Mods Submitted 02/23/2010 10:09 AM Updated 03/09/2017 05:55 AM
  15. Just to add... 1 beep means an alarm zone is open 2 beeps means there is an alarm fault (that needs to be fixed)
  16. Here is the parts list for the GT3 Mark 1 front bumper. The same parts work regardless of whether you put it on a GT3, 996, or 986. gt3_mk1_front_bumper.pdf Carnewal.com still has the 3rd radiator kit on their site - though with the poor value of the dollar you want to compare the individual parts prices at Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost). The complete parts list is in my DIY article here. Please have them double check the part numbers as some may have changes or been updated.
  17. The CDR-23 is a MOST component which is fiber optic linked to other control systems in the car. There is no wire for illumination - the radio handles this based on a signal over the MOST network. You won't find a wire in the car for this.

  19. Please do a search here - this has been covered several times before...
  20. Thanks! Yes, certainly not everyone will have the problem. It is a leftover JavaScript and cookies issue. So I expect only a few will experience the problem.
  21. P0133 Signal Period for Oxygen Sensor Ageing, Bank 1 – Above/Below Limit P1128 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 – Above Limit or Below Limit P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 – Above Limit or Below Limi Looks like a bad sensor or connection on bank 1 for the sensor ahead of cat. I would fix that clear the codes and see what comes back.
  22. ECGROSS Which .com had the regulator for $160? Never seen one you couldn't get off (with the proper tools). 996.107.020.54 Filter housing -- US MSRP $30.94
  23. Christian, Thanks for this - but can you detail the instructions a little bit more? Thanks Your link does not allow visitor access.
  24. Loren, I got the GT3 wiring harness and wired it up. Still get a check light for the rear spoiler brake light. Is there anyway the dealer can reprogram things to take out this annoying warning at each startup? Hmm... I wonder if you have the wrong harness? They should be able to check it with a PIWIS tester.
  25. Spark plugs - Bosch FRG 5 KQE0 (Porsche part no. 999.170.223.90) Electrode gap - 1.6 ± 0.05 mm (They should already be set to this gap - but double check them in case someone dropped one).
