  1. Try 5388 or 5386 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  2. Some folks that track their car a lot just got to a salvage yard and pick a seat belt buckle and plug it in when they use the racing harness - that will turn off the light. My advise is do not try to defeat the system - work around it.
  3. Your car was never intended to have 19" wheels. Even some of the early 996's had to have rear inner fender cut back (there is a TSB on this) to fit 18" wheels. I do know a 295/30 x 18 will fit most of the early cars without modifications.
  4. 993 series cars have two oil filters -- 996 series cars have one. Perhaps he misunderstood...
  5. Ok - part of the Design Package (Aerokit). It looks like Porsche does not list the individual parts for the sill covers - only the whole kit. You can check with your OPC to see if they have other options. 955.044.800.77 Left Sill Cover
  6. If you are in the US I do not believe any dealer will disable the airbags or seatbelt lights - it is a legal liability issue.
  7. Yes, it sounds like you have an air leak. Fault codes would likely confirm this.
  8. Try 1096 or 1094 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  9. Yes, Bosch or Beru in the proper heat range.
  10. Try 7728 or 7726 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  11. Harbor Freight - I think they are usually on sale for $4.99
  12. As I recall all of the connectors are keyed so you can not plug them into the wrong connector. You need a code reader to find out what the fault is.
  13. MAF has almost nothing to do with idle - you can unplug it and your idle will not change. The MAF does the most work at 4000 RPM and up. If you have a dirty or bad MAF a usual symptom is that it stumbles or won't rev above 4000 RPM. Most idle problems are a dirty ICV (Idle Control Valve) or sticky throttle butteryfly. Both are usually cured with a good cleaning of carburetor or fuel injection cleaner. Sometimes the solenoid in the ICV goes bad and it sticky or does not move - in those cases you need to replace the ICV. BTW... MY2000 and newer use eGas so there is no ICV on those cars - and they are even more susceptible to dirty throttle bodies/butterflys than the early cars. Only a guess from your description but I suspect a dirty or bad MAF. You should really read the fault codes to be sure you don't have some other problem or more than one problem.
  14. Ok these seem to be used all over the engine compartment linings... 955.572.710.00 Fastening Plug -- US MSRP $1.47 each
  15. IMHO it's pretty hard to screw the brakes on these cars both OEM and after market seem to work well. If you decide to go with performance pads be ready for squealing and reduced rotor life (race cars take more maintenance).
  16. Try 9657 or 9655 I have tried both of them twice and they did not work. I have gone through the 60 minute WAIT twice. It now comes up as code. Another combination? Thanks, Bill You can verify the serial number using the technique in the FAQ. If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST All is answered in the FAQ (hint hint)
  17. Did you use adhesive on the vibration dampers?
  18. 9x7 series cars fit very tight if they have not ever been removed. Lift from the front of the car to the back (kind like hinged). Use protect cloth and plastic trim tools to prevent any damages.
  19. I personally would only use OEM. 999.170.207.91 spark plug (14FGR 6KQU)
  20. All US Porsches have been the same (for all states) for many years now. I think it was in the 80's when they (and most car builders) went with one US standard that met or exceeded California specs.
  21. Thanks got your VIN. 955.628.320.01 cover -- US MSRP $21.95 955.631.620.03 License plate light assembly -- US MSRP $14.26
  22. The actual engine cover (one for each side are held down by Torx screw0. Is this what you mean?
  23. Coolant tank is the number one leaker. Number 2 is likely the water pump. Not that common but a radiator will leak if it has been damage. Worse possible cause would be head gasket or cracked cylinder liner. You will need closer observations before and after driving to locate the leak.
  24. According to Road & Track Magazine it is scheduled to arrive in late 2011 as a 2012 model. I suggest not holding your breath.
