P0430 TWC Conversion, Bank 2 – Above Limit – Catalytic converter P1411 Secondary Air Injection System, Bank 2 – Below Limit Probable causes: Secondary air injection pump does not function - fuse, relay, wiring Air supply lines restricted - check lines Electric change-over valve does not function - check valve function Air change-over valve does not function - check valve function Vacuum system leaking - check for vacuum leaks I would check and fix the P1411 first then reset the codes and see if the P0430 comes back or not.
  3. Sorry, I can not agree that low mileage cars are more prone to IMS failures. I do not see how mileage plays a role - especially low mileage. If the right tolerances occur in any given engine there will be a failure. Some engines fail but many do not fail. I own a low mileage MY99 3.4 liter car and my feelings are - if it happens then it happens. I'll deal with it when it happens. So for my 2 cents - if the car runs well and does not leak oil from the RMS or IMS - I would leave it alone.
  4. US cars had the J loop cooler in the right front fender. If it is a 75 911 then make sure you have the 11 blade fan. My 76 911S came with the 5 blade fan and the J loop cooler. I replaced the fan with the 11 blade and the turbo cooler in the right front fender. This dropped oil temperatures dramatically - about 20 degrees as I recall.
  5. Item 17 is called "heat protection" - that is near the rear I think. Can you describe exactly where the piece is?
  6. I can tell you for sure the Carrera cluster will - as long as it is the right year. The GT2 cluster will have the boost gauge - and you don't have twin turbos.

  12. These are all the other underbody pieces - item 1 is the front cover.
  13. Prices vary - a salvage yard might be able to tell you. Maybe some other folks can chime in with what they paid... You need to make sure you get the Carrera MY02 or newer to work in your 01 Boxster. A Carrera Cabriolet cluster will be already have some programming done (convertible top). Make sure you get a Tiptronic clust if your car is a Tip or 6 speed cluster if your car is a 5 or 6 speed.
  14. Do a search here on cleaning the ICV (Idle Control Valve) (assuming C2 not C4) and also on cleaning the throttle body.
  15. I asked you to look at the codes because they will tell what is going on. That along with other built-in tests give techs an idea what is going on. That is why Porsche put the faults and test measurements in the cars. Anything else (without the diagnostic facts) is frankly just a wild guess. Most people would look at a car with a flat tire and say 'you need a new tire'. A good tech would say 'lets look at the tire, the wheel, and valve - and find out what is the real fault cause'. We try to give educated and analytical answers here - we try NOT to guess. End :soapbox:
  16. Could be - the pending codes would say if you have an air leak and the MAF test would say if your MAF is bad.
  17. If you really what to diagnose and fix your Porsche buy the Durametric software to run on your laptop. Nothing else even comes close (unless you want to spend $4000 plus on Porsche tool).
  18. Yes, you could have pending codes and if your scan tool allows it check to see the MAF voltage. It should be stable at idle and increase with RPM.
  19. have you checked for fault codes? You may have an air leak or a bad MAF.
  20. Check your fault codes - there is a fault code for throttle position sensor.
  21. Not without changing the wheel hubs too. You would need wheel hubs from a GT3 or GT2 for the fronts as the turbo front wheel hubs are 4WD. A better upgrade for your friend would be Carrera 2 (or Boxster S brakes as they are the same) brakes. In those cases it is just bolt on.

  23. Several folks here have installed Carrera gauges - only one wire to add and a little programming with a PST2 or PIWIS. See the DIY Tutorial here. Here is one we did at a WOCD in 2007.
  24. 1. Removing trim panel for mirror triangle. Carefully lever out trim panel for mirror triangle 4 2. Unclipping switch for mirror adjustment. Unclip switch 5. 3. Pulling off plug. Operate lock on plug using a screwdriver and pull off plug 6. 4. Unclipping cover of inner door handle. Carefully lever out the trim -2- 5. Unclipping trim at armrest. Lever out the trim -3--A, B and C. 6. Unscrewing fastening screws. Unscrew fastening screws 7, 7a. 7. Removing front door trim panel. Unclip front door trim panel 1 arrow D arrow E. 8. Pulling plug of door wiring harness off the control module. Release plug 8 10 9. 9. Pulling off plug for door loudspeaker Release plug for door loudspeaker -12--11- 10. & 11. Disengaging actuating cable for door lock. A. Unlock fastening clip for actuating cable for door lock 13 by pressing the locking hook arrows and disengage from the guide slot arrow G. B. Swivel pin -14- of actuating cable forward by 90° and disengage upward. 12. Removing door trim pane. You may need to replace any plastic clips that broke on removal. Install is basically the reverse. Be careful to not over-tighten the screws as they strip out easily.
  25. Check for fault codes and pending faults. I suspect you have an MAF problem.
