  1. If you want 400 HP (or more) out of a normally aspirated late model Porsche my advice is to buy a GT3. You will need to spend a lot of money to come close to that number on a 997-1. Don't believe all the 3rd party hype - those HP gains are not what they say they are.
  2. That sounds about right. Still remember to clean to the front radiators of debris - that is most common cause of increased temperatures. IMHO the only way to really clean the front radiators is to remove the front bumper (15 minute job) and clean both the radiators and the AC condensers in front of them. Covered many times here so do a search for some tips.
  3. The metal bracket is just a support that can be removed to replace the hose. One bolt as I recall.
  4. Actually Robin wrote that and allowed me to post it here. 7.5 ftlb. (10 Nm) for the water pump 34 ftlb. (46 Nm) for the engine carrier to engine 17 ftlb. (23 Nm) for cat bracket
  5. I don't have the corner weights but Porsche did say they substantially improved unsprung weight. This might also help...
  6. Check your oil for coolant it will look like a chocolate milk shake. Check your coolant for oil. If you can't find the problem externally you may need to pull the engine and pull the heads off. But I wouldn't do that unless I was pretty sure there is a problem. So get a second opinion.
  7. What do you mean the pedal? or the clutch slave arm on the transmission? The pedal means nothing - if the slave arm on the transmission is not moving then you have a hydraulic problem.
  8. Out of gas? Clogged fuel filter? Contaminated gas?
  9. If it is a new cluster then it can be re-programmed with your old settings using a PIWIS tester. If the cluster is used and had more than 52 mile (60 km) then it can not have the odometer reset. Check your local laws but here in the US you can still do that it just needs to be noted (actual mileage) in the car's registration records. Same procedure hold re-program via PIWIS to your old settings - except for odometer. There are 3rd party companies that say they can change them - but again check your local laws before doing so.
  10. :welcome: How old is the battery? If it is 4 years or older I would start by replacing it - you are on borrowed time with a battery that old. You can also check for power drains - 3rd party accessories (i.e. radar detector, GPS, etc.) that are drawing power with the car off.
  11. I agree not really any disadvantages if you stay within Porsche specs for spacers.
  12. How to install the RoW M030 Sport Suspension
  13. A PST2 will also work any 996 series car.
  14. Try 4531 or 4529 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  15. :welcome: A little oil - how much is that? Porsche says 1 liter in 600 miles is still acceptable.
  16. Sunset Porsche (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) link at top right of any page. Or since the cost is so low any local Porsche dealer - but don't pay over MSRP. Dealers that charge over MSRP make me angry.
  17. A loose spark usually chirps all the time. As I said, I would take the belt off (for a very short period of time) and run the motor to see if it goes away.
  18. A Porsche rebuilt exchange transmission will run about $7000 MSRP - but will have a two year warranty. I see now that only rebuilt is available from Porsche - so no more new Tips of that vintage. I'll let others weigh in on Vertex as I have not used them.
  19. I think you are going to need the 1984-1989 911 workshop manual as it has the wiring diagrams.
  20. Please answer this post via a Private Message (PM) - we do not need a 'how to steal a Boxster' thread. Thanks!
  21. A loose spark plug sounds like a loud bird chirping. It would also cause a CEL. I would still take the belt off (for a very short period of time) and run the motor to see if it goes away.
  22. Belt, pulley(s), AC compressor clutch, etc. - those would be the first things I would look at.
