  1. The serial number that is displayed using the process in the FAQ is the correct serial number. As the FAQ says - try one number difference.
  2. Your friend can order a back issue for $10 from http://www.excellence-mag.com/
  3. Time to put a Durametric, PST2 or PIWIS tester on the car and see what is going on. Did you get a PPI - did someone verify the car was in good shape before you bought it?
  4. One beep means one (or more) zones is open. Two beeps means there is an alarm fault - which needs to be repaired.
  5. Feel free to post your mods in the Registry (rather than the forums). Thanks!
  6. No the .03 tip required the new control box - so I think all the tips after that (.05 and .20) also require the new control box.
  7. I know the 986.300.011.02 required a newer control module so I expect you need the newer control module for 02 and newer versions. Perhaps RFM knows for sure?
  8. I sometimes think my Droid is faster and more usable than my work laptop by the time all the M$ patches and security crap is installed. If there's a way to use Google Docs to view the PDFs on a mobile that would be nice I'd be happy to help you beta test the mobile site on a Droid if you want any feedback or to test features I sent you a PM.
  9. Just reminder to all that one of the cool features of the site is 'tabbed' search results. You can see separate results from different sections of the site (.i.e. blogs, DIY Tutorials, Downloads, etc., etc.)
  10. Sorry, I don't think Durametric can do that. I think you will need to find someone with a PIWIS tester and the latest software updates.
  11. That may be a mistake in PET. In MY2001 the 996 Carrera got alcantara roof lining and it is the same part number as what is used on the 996TT.
  12. Not really sure this is a DIY without proper tools. ATF lines have to be disconnected. You will need special fittings to connect to the (bottom) plug and you will need a temperature probe to make sure you don't over or under fill. This is 5 pages in the service manual.
  13. All, I had this done last month for my 2002 at a Porsche dealer and it is a free install from Porsche for 986's. Check with your dealer and have them speak to their Porsche regional rep if they are unsure. Joe :welcome: That will vary from dealer to dealer. Some charge and some don't.
  14. Sometimes that front end controller needs to be re-programmed to stop errors. Fairly common on the early 9x7 series cars.
  15. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/topic/27755-2004-c2-cab-horn-question/page__view__findpost__p__147234
  16. The mobile stuff is coming in the next version of the site (I'm calling it 3.1). It will include a dramatically improved mobile interface. I am still debating on how much of the special features (TSBs, Maintenance Checklists, Pcodes, etc.) would be useful on mobile connections. Reading a PDF version TSB on a mobile might not make sense.
  17. :welcome: Do a search here for "wheel cleaning" and you will find some good suggestions. I have the older Sport Design wheels and here is what I did. I removed the wheels from the car and painfully cleaned them until they were spotless. Then I applied Rejex to the wheels. Put them back on the car Rejex does not let the dirt and grime stick to wheel surface so basically I just rinse and dry the wheels.
  18. Tab at the top of the forums - "DIY Tutorials"
  19. If you are having no problems then just make a note of the codes - clear the codes and see if any come back.
  20. Here is a pic of the 'coming soon' iPhone app. This will work with the new update (3.1) that is a few weeks away. Yes, an Android app is coming too...
  21. Have a look at the DIY Tutorial Replacing the Gas/Fuel Door Actuator
