  1. Try 4399 or 4397 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Hi again Thank you for your suggestions but the codes did not work for my radio. I have tried +-2 several times with no success. Would appreciate if you have ideas? Thanks, einesv996 PLEASE read the FAQ.
  2. :welcome: Start by checking the fuses B4 and C5 and then the relay. Relay 8 is the is the engine purge fan relay. It will be on relay support 2 which is behind the rear seats/carpet next to the DME. Relay 8 will be in the second row - 3rd from the left. Measure resistance between Pin 85 and Pin 86 on the relay - it should be about 75 ohms - if not replace the relay. Last possibility would be a DME fault.
  3. :welcome: Search is friend... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/topic/19293-cabriolet-on-a-track-hardtop-exceptable-or-do-you-need-a-rollcage-o/page__view__findpost__p__99075
  4. Interesting the TSB says 100 TU (and 100 TU = 60 minutes). Seems low to me too. Perhaps they mean just the pipes and not the rest of the disassembly.
  5. As long as the old drain plug is in good shape - there is no reason to replace it. And, remember not to over-torque it.
  6. Have you taken it off to see if it is jammed with carbon? I would try cleaning it - I have never noticed sound from mine.
  7. Battery would be a prime suspect - since when they go you get all kinds of strange electrical phenomena.
  8. What model year GT2 please?

  10. Any faults on the Durametric? Also, check your brake lights and MAF - they are all on the same circuit.
  11. Fault code 20 Interface to instrument cluster Possible causes: - Open circuit - Short to ground Open circuit 1. Unplug connector B from the heating/air-conditioning control. 2. Unplug connector III from the instrument cluster. 3. Connect ohmmeter to connector B 13 and to connector III pin 26. Display < 5 ohms Note: The wire is routed via the 12-pole plug connection on the heating/air-conditioning unit. Short to ground 1. Unplug connector B from the heating/air-conditioning control. 2. Unplug connector III from the instrument cluster. 3. Connect ohmmeter to connector B 13 and ground. Display: infinite ohms If 0 - 5 ohms is displayed, check wiring harness for pinching and chafing damage. First obvious check would be for a loose or disconnected plug.
  12. You will need a flashlight and perhaps a mirror for checking. If they have not been upgraded to the metal tubes - they should be. Porsche book time on this is only 1 hour.
  13. Yes, you can order all the parts from Sunset. Porsche sells primered parts only so you will need to find a good paint shop. I'll let others recommend since I moved out of the bay area 3 years ago.
  14. Yes it is for a 996 Cab - sounds like you are on the wrong side. It is on the engine side. Here is a link to mod4cars excellent pictorial on how to get to the controllers. http://www.wilhelmy-.../general/en.php
  15. Please read this and follow the instructions... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  16. Hi Loren I am looking for the same diagram but for a european 993 Turbo model year 1995. I believe the wiring war different for 1995 model year atleast for the M490 Amp system. Do you have that by any chance? Thanks in advance RF Sorry, this is all I have. 95_993_radio.pdf
  17. Best to check the coolant pipes - if they have not been replaced they should be. They usually start with a small leak and then one day - boom they let go.
  18. No the pump. tank etc. are all in the fender well. You will need to remove the plastic wheel well liner to get to them.
  19. It's been covered here many many many times. A simple answer is no. Porsche's normally aspirated engines have most of what you can get out of them. A Turbo is quite different though - a chip and an open exhaust might get you 100 HP or more. But the engines and their dynamics are totally different. If you want a lot more HP - my advice is sell the Carrera and get a Turbo.
  20. Yes if you can even have someone actuate it while you observe the pump - then you will likely see the problem.
  21. Sorry, but someone is just trying to sell you something. These normally aspirated cars won't get much more than Porsche has already extracted. With headers, open exhaust and a tuning chip you might (and I emphasize might) make 25-30 HP. Other folks have already been this route...
  22. Yes, both the windshield pump/tank and headlight pump/tank are in the left front fender - regardless of LHD or RHD. Only headlight cleaner and intermittent wipers have relays. Chances are you have a bad pump or a leak in a line - unfortunately these are fairly common.
  23. The procedure is the same before or after battery disconnect. See the instructions in the FAQ.
