  1. Yes the cam cover can be worked on with the engine in the car. I do not know of anyone with a cam holder other than who you mentioned. Perhaps someone else here does....
  2. They are all listed (with photos) in the Summer Tires and Wheels TSB for the Cayman... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=download&do=confirm_download&id=949
  3. Try 9059 or 9057 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  4. Check the 16 page TSB on the E81 Powerkit.... http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=download&do=confirm_download&id=1385
  5. P1128 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 1 – Above Limit P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 – Above Limit Possible fault causes: – Incorrect signal from MAF sensor – Intake air system leaking – Fuel pressure too low – Volume supply of fuel pump too low – Fuel injectors fouled – Exhaust system leaking I would start with cleaning the MAF.
  6. They are not valve covers - they are cam covers so don't take them off. You will need a tool to hold the cams in place if the cam covers are really leaking. Check the spark plug tubes first.
  7. Yes, they are silicon and are red in color. The old type were black.
  8. Yes, sounds like your engine mount. They should be replaced in pairs.
  9. I would check the Park Assist control unit first.
  10. Try 6518 or 6516 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  11. If your problems are only lights then I would lean towards the headlight switch.
  12. Did you try a search? Please read this and follow the instructions... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  13. Yes. It can test both stage1 and stage 2 of the fans (low and high speed).
  14. Check the bulb socket and then check the socket in the fender where the headlight plugs in. The inner fender socket can be broken easily by someone slamming the headlight into place and/ or the pins in the socket occasionally get pushed out and do not make good contact then.
  15. The engine compartment purge fan rarely comes on. Mine has only come on twice -- and I live in 90 plus degree California! Here are the conditions the fan comes on at. From the service manual... "Switch-on conditions for engine compartment fan (this fan pulls air into the engine compartment) The engine compartment fan is switched on when the engine compartment temperature is > 176 degrees F or the coolant temperature is > 216 degrees F. After-running of engine compartment fan If the ignition is switched off and the engine compartment temperature is more than 140 degrees F, the DME control module remains in readiness for another 20 minutes. During this time, the engine compartment temperature is retrieved every 10 seconds. If the engine compartment temperature is > 185 degrees F , the engine compartment fan is switched on for 20 seconds. If the engine compartment temperature is still > 185 degrees F after this time, the fan remains on for a further 30 seconds." You will need a tool like a PST2 or PIWIS tester to manually turn on the fans for testing. Not sure if the latest Durametric can do this or not.
  16. No, don't drive at high RPM without the MAF - besides getting a CEL the air/fuel mixture will be wrong at high RPMs (above 4000 RPM).
  17. Yes, you can try cleaning it with a commercial MAF/sensor cleaner -- or just replace it. It's $4.95 for cleaner vs. $482.76 (MSRP) for a new sensor.
  18. Your model 01 Boxster should already have the newer spark plug tubes and o-rings. So unless one or moire is leaking I would leave them alone.
  19. The most common problem is dirty sensors.
  20. You are talking about the engine compartment purge fan1 -- not the front radiator fans - correct?
  21. Model and year of your car please? US/Canada car or RoW?
  22. Try 1348 or 1346 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST the code is not working PLEASE read the FAQ.
  23. 9.0 liters (9.52 US quarts) with oil filter change. 8.2 liters (8.68 US quarts) without oil filter change.
