  1. HVAC = Heater/Ventilation/Air Conditioner The fan is in the dash right in front of the right seat. Fuel pump is in the gas tank under the battery. The radiator fans don't run all the time unless the AC is on. Then they run fast. When AC is off they only turn on (low speed) when needed.
  2. Your car has two different horn systems. One horn for just the alarm system and a pair (2) of horns that are used via the steering wheel press. The alarm horn is not supposed to chirp (Porsche alarm systems) when set. If it chirps once that means one of more alarm zones are "open". If it chirps twice then that means there is a fault in the alarm system. Your cars alarm sounds like it is working properly. Best check the fuse and then horns (behind the front bumper) for the steering wheel activated warning horn.
  3. Test your battery for load and specific gravity of each cell. if the battery is 4 years old (or older) - replace it. A bad ignition switch can also cause this type of problem.
  4. I don't remember what model year I took this screenshot on - but it may require turning on (a 5 minute job).
  5. Loren, Is that modual near the upper front passenger side somewhere? I have the same whinning sound and I hear it mostly when at idle at a stop light during normal operating temp. I actually had a friend drive and was sitting in the passenger seat and heard it and it appears to be coming from the front, am I wrong? It eventually goes away and all is good again. But mainly when I notice it is when in traffic or at a street light, etc. Thanks, Johnny No, the air pump is near the left rear in the engine compartment. You are likely hearing either the HVAC fan or the fuel pump. The HVAC fan can be turned off for troubleshooting by hitting the down arrow until it says "oFF".
  6. :welcome: No longer on the PCA site but this article can be retrieved from the archives site (with a little patience). This is the best article I have seen on the subject. http://web.archive.o..._article_3.html
  7. Sometimes it comes on when you come off the freeway and idle at a stop light. In those cases it is usually just a few seconds. I agree with wvicary - you might want to find a used one somewhere as the MSRP is $1453.32  Although I am sure the folks at Sunset Porsche (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) can do better. Make sure you get a 996.605.104.00 for MY00 and newer.
  8. You do know the air pump is supposed to stop after 30 seconds to 2 minutes?
  9. The diagrams are always that way. item 17 -- 955.631.062.03 tensioner -- US MSRP $8.90 each item 18 -- 955.631.052.01 fastening screw -- US MSRP $0.61 each
  10. Items 17 and 18 (only one of the four shown)?
  11. Well, your car should have the new striker plate if it was built in late 1998 on (see TSB 2/99 5726). PM me your VIN if you want me to double check it. You should also inspect it for looseness, corrosion and wear.
  12. On a 9" wide wheel 60 mm is the correct offset - so yes, they would fit. Sorry, can't speak to the quality of these wheels.
  13. Model year please? There were early cars that had latch problems covered by TSBs.
  14. Same Problem for me... 2003 C2 Trip 17,500 miles... Any news on problem resolution. I worry maybe it is an axle ready to fail. I get the noise in first gear or reverse. The tips like to start in 2nd gear, but not enough rear torque to make the noise. It is a hard "tink" or "clunk". Only from a stop and usually only if I really press the pedal to the floor. Anyone... Folks these are good suggestions posted above. The rear sway mounts should be inspected as well as all four constant velocity joints. If you don't feel comfortable doing this - then take the car to a good Porsche shop.
  15. http://www.renntech....dpost__p__87443 5 mm socket.
  16. :welcome: Please give us the exact model and year of your car? This is and RoW car?
  17. Try 1008 or 1006 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  18. Try 9928 or 9926 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Okay, I just recently disconnected the battery, and after reconnecting, I tried both of those and they don't work, perhaps my serial number is actually W5018669? Would that yield different results? The digital display makes it weird to decipher the serial number. Again, thanks in advance! Get the real serial number using the procedure in the FAQ.
  19. Try 6754 or 6752 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST PLEASE read the FAQ.
  20. P1340 Position of Camshaft in Relation to Crankshaft, Bank 1 – Above Limit Only possible cause: – Allocation of outlet camshaft to inlet camshaft incorrect Note: This fault can be stored only if the engine was disassembled and the allocation of the outlet camshaft to the inlet camshaft was incorrectly set. P1341 Camshaft Adjustment, Bank 1 – Below Limit P1341 Camshaft Adjustment, Bank 1 – Above Limit P1341 Camshaft Adjustment, Bank 1 – Signal Implausible Possible causes: – Short to ground – Open circuit in triggering wire – Open circuit in B+ supply – Actuator faulty I suggest you take it back to where they worked on it.
  21. If the problem still persists (and it did show signs of improvement) then you will likely need a new MAF. 996.606.124.00 MAF -- US MSRP $594.10 Try the folks at Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) - link near the top right - for much better pricing.
  22. :welcome: P1126 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Lower Load Range, Bank 1 – Above Limit P1133 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Lower Load Range, Bank 2 – Above Limit Possible causes: – Incorrect signal from MAF sensor – Intake air system leaking – Fuel pressure too low – Volume supply of fuel pump too low – Fuel injectors fouled Start with your MAF - your DME thinks there is too much air and has made the mixture as rich as it can. Many times this can be caused by a bad or dirty MAF. Covered here many many times...
