  1. Yes, that is the exchange price for a rebuilt starter from Porsche - if a dealer charges you more then they are gouging you big time. There is already a big markup in all Porsche MSRP.
  2. Looks like the answer is -- yes. Porsche also sells rebuilt - exchange starters (996604103X) for MSRP $239.98
  3. Please do a search here as this topic and solutions have been discussed many times before. Hint - search the 996 forums for DRL
  4. :welcome: I think it is all going to come down to the part number of your NAV. Look at these two TSBs and the one workshop campaign (which should have already been done): 13/05 9110 PCM2.1 Navigation Update -- Sep 7, 2005 32/07 9110 PCM2.1 - Navigation Update -- Oct 24, 2008 26/05 W610 W610 - Installing New System Software On The PCM2.1 (Workshop Campaign) -- Feb 13, 2006
  5. Can you give us all the fault codes?
  6. If the car never had a CD Changer then you likely didn't have the fiber optic cables and the car may not be programmed to recognize it. See TSB 9/04 9160 CD Changer CDC-4 Installation Instructions -- dated Jun 25, 2004 here
  7. Todd is right M96/23 is a MY2003 Boxster 2.7 liter engine. Your car originally had a 3.4 liter engine. If you were in the US I would suggest you call an attorney or file a fraud report.
  8. The Retail Parts Price Search feature (for our Contributing Members) has been updated to reflect September 2010 retail pricing for the US. We try to update this on a monthly basis as the price lists come available to us. For September 2010 the parts price list support: US: 305,573 parts (lots of new models) Thanks again to Contributing Member Porschelibrarian!
  9. Is this the serial number appearing on the display, after following instructions here? http://www.renntech....radio-code-faq/ It appears that you have a Becker barcode for the BE2260. However, Becker barcodes are normally 15 digits long, also including letters. (In saying that, I haven't physically seen a BE2260's label) If you have removed the radio from the dash, quote the :- Model Number: eg BE 2260 and the 8 digit alphanumeric serial number, eg. 15006256 or V5001245 from the label. Just need to make sure got correct serial number. Cheers. I did not remove the entire radio, just the faceplate. that long number was on a sticker behind the nameplate. I don't have any other numbers. also, I could not follow any of the instructions for finding the number by pressing a series of buttons. my cdr-210 has no knobs or TP button. CR-210: Press tone, then 8 and 0 simultaneously. "Becker" appears. Press station up arrow on right. "PR-VERS" appears. Press one of numbered buttons below display, directly below the LCD arrowheads (try a few). The model number will appear. Press station up arrow on right. "SERIAL N" will appear. Press the numbered button again. The serial number will appear. Or, if the radio is out of the car the then the serial number is on the label.
  10. JFP in PA is right. Airbags are a safety issue and hence can only be reset with Durametric software, a PST2 or OIWIS tester. What is more in important is WHAT caused the fault. Again, all of these diagnostic tools can read the fault code(s) and that will point to the cause.
  11. Please do a search here this has been covered many times...
  12. There were several different heads depending on whether you have a coupe or cab and model year. The nicest head is the Carrera GT "style" Design head that many dealers were selling as an upgrade - $99 plus any programming.
  13. Your car would have used DME 7.2 and would have had a 3.4 liter VarioCam engine. The 2005 car would have used DME 7.8 and would have had a 3.6 liter engine with VarioCam Plus. I'm pretty sure DME 7.2 can't run VarioCam Plus - so they would have needed some other changes too. Check the serial number on the engine and report back here.
  14. if you need a spare key then you need more that just the remote part (head) - you need the key cut blade too. The whole key is 996.538.932.00. Any additional keys will require programming to car. I would recommend that if you only want two keys that they both be full keys with remote -- frankly valet keys seldom get used.
  15. Try 6823 or 6821 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Amazon sells the keys - don't pay over $5.50 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001684WEU?tag=renntechorg-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=B001684WEU&adid=05PDFVG7DYZRKS2HJ9E7&
  16. Try 8222 or 8220 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST
  17. Excuse me the poster said "...have not been able to turn on the OBC & cruise". The Durametric can not turn on cruise control to my knowledge and you need version 6 of Durametric to turn on OBC (with the version 6 cable). BTW... I own Durametric, PST2 and a PIWIS tester.
  18. Is there a valet key that should come or is available with a Porsche 911? On my Mercedes the keys separate so you can lock the glove and or center console when you valet or have car serviced. My 2004 40th AE came with two keys and remotes but that was all. I have seen some cars have three keys am I missing one? My MY99 came with 2 keys with remote and 1 valet key. The valet key also has an immobilizer pill (built into the head) so it also needs to be programmed into the car (or it won't start the car). Here is a link to some valet key info... http://www.renntech....dpost__p__86467
  19. No Durametric will not do that. You will need to find a shop with a PST2 or a PIWIS tester. This should not take over 15 minutes - with one of these tools.
  20. If you transfer your immobilizer pill to the new key head you are good to go. If you can not do that then you will have to ALL the keys reprogrammed to car (al least 1 hour labor). Sorry there are no short cuts or cheap ways out. The immobilizer has 4 key code slots and they have to have all keys so they know which ones to delete and which ones are valid for your car. This has been covered several times here before - so if you want even more info please do a search.
  21. Try 9928 or 9926 If you have not already read this FAQ - please do so... Lost Radio Code - FAQ, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST Okay, I just recently disconnected the battery, and after reconnecting, I tried both of those and they don't work, perhaps my serial number is actually W5018669? Would that yield different results? The digital display makes it weird to decipher the serial number. Again, thanks in advance! Get the real serial number using the procedure in the FAQ. I wasn't making it up. Ok, those are two numbers that come up for me. You can try add or subtract process mentioned in the FAQ or perhaps Bruce2010 has a number for you...
  22. Give me a call if you want to put a PST2 on the car and see what it comes up with.
  23. The link does not work because you are not a Contributing Member. This is the Porsche font not the Carrera/Boxster font. You can likely find these doing a Google search.
  24. :welcome: Any work done on the inside temp sensor? It can stop the AC from coming on. You might need a PST2 or PIWIS tester to diagnose further.
  25. 3 bolts on the hears side - two bolt on the sleeve on the muffler side. This is not brain surgery folks. Expect the 3 bolts on the header end to break or be frozen from the heat. If you ever plan on using the cats again be very careful to keep any oil or penetrating fluid away from the oxygen sensors - even a small amount will ruin them. Buy new nuts and bolts for the header side.
