  1. To put the standard map back into your car you will need the IPAS (security) codes for your car and a PIWIS. It takes close to 1 hour to enter all the codes do the re-map and then re-learn the driving map engine. Could be just a loose wire on the overrun valve. Check if for a good connection or damage.
  2. Looks to me like someone put in an aftermarket horn. Previously there would have been two horns and a connector for each.
  3. Sounds like a OBC warning - check what is set for the max speed gong on your OnBoard Computer.
  4. It is the opposite problem of over use -- under use. When the car is not driven much there is more moisture in the oil and the oil drains out of bearings and other important places. Many times rarely driven cars have oil that is more contaminated (corrosion and oxidation) than cars driven daily.
  5. MAF has almost nothing to do with idle - then MAF makes a difference above 4000 RPM. It would take several bad coils to cause what you describe. Check the fuel pump flow (at the distribution rail) and fuel filter. Did you recent get gas or have a lot of rain? - bad gas will do the same.
  6. :welcome: Neither of those part numbers come up on my lists - even as "replaced by". Sometimes Porsche parts have "assembly numbers" that Porsche does not use. You might want to go to a dealer/OPC and compare what you have with the part numbers I have listed below your model year car. MY07 GT3 with PCCB uses: front 997.351.948.02 rear 997.352.947.01
  7. :welcome: You do realize that the GT3 and the 996 C4S use a completely different engine? Having said that - the headers/cats/mufflers still may match up or require some adjustment to work. Likely a lot easier to just find a Carrera muffler.
  8. Yes, the top mechanism in a 0996 can be "calibrated" using a PST2 or PIWIS tester - I have done it. Not sure what all it does but the top worked perfectly when it was done.

  10. Correct part number for MY97 to MY01 is 986.613.120.01.A02 Glossy switch. Any newer switch will have a matte finish instead of glossy.

Porsche says: "· On vehicles with annual mileages of less than 9,000 miles (15,000 km), an annual maintenance must be carried out once a year. · Maintenance with oil filter change must be carried out at least every 2 years according to the mileage, if the mileage for a major maintenance has not already been reached. · For an annual mileage of more than 9,000 miles (15,000 km) it is recommended to carry out the next maintenance as soon as possible."
  12. Porsche does not sell a "lot" or kit for this you would need to buy all the parts and have them installed. This will be very very expensive. For example each PCCB front rotor is $4283.49 and each front caliper is $959.88. And the front pads are $340.53. So even without the other small parts you are looking at almost $11,000 for just the fronts - uninstalled.
  13. No, you will need to remove the battery connection for at least a couple of minutes to reset the DME. This will start the relearning process.
  14. Yes, you can mount up 8.5" wheels in front with offsets of 50 or 52 mm. You can run a 235 tire in front without rubbing or contact. I have 8" front wheels on my MY99 Carrera and I am running the same size tires you quote above. You do not need spacers on the front or rear.
  15. As long as the car is off - you should be fine.
  16. Usually you do not want to change your rolling radius by more than 3%. Changes that are larger can affect ABS, PSM, and NAV.

  18. :welcome: Yes, this is common especially on older cars. Do a search here (include Boxster since they share the same door assembly) - chances are either the cable has come loose or the lever. Worse case the lock is worn out and fallen apart.
  19. Not quite correct - MY99 and older use conventional cable operated throttle and MY2000 and newer all use eGas (also know a drive by wire). eGas is an electronic solution where the signal is sent via an electrical wire as opposed to cable where the throttle is controlled mechanically by the cable. You are correct that if he goes with a larger/newer engine he will need either modification or a newer DME.
  20. Check the approved tires and wheels TSB in the Cayenne TSB section. It will tell you what is acceptable based on Porsche's tests.
