  1. The average life of a car battery is 4 years - after that they are always suspect. (IMHO)
  2. Perhaps a microswitch got damaged or moved in the collision. Unless, you have a Durametric, a PST2, or PIWIS to test with you will likely need to pull the inner door panel and inspect for damage.
  3. I just wondered as the three things they fixed only the MAF could have any affect on PSM. The fact that it goes into limp mode would make want to run a transmission diagnostic. Plus if your complaint is the PSM they should also be running that diagnostic.

  7. The mechanical latch mechanism likely needs to be adjusted. It is either loose or has moved out of proper adjustment. Have a look here for a DIY on adjusting the latch (even though this is a 996 DIY - the 997-1 is pretty much the same).
  8. Are you sure the o-ring is properly seated on the canister? I would remove the filter canister (catching the clean oil) and inspect it.
  9. You will find pieces of the block connector on each of the signal major units wiring diagram (i.e. air bag, door lights, door microswitches, locks, etc.). Best thing to do (i think) is remove the connector - clean - look for damaged or corroded pins. Not too uncommon in wet or snowy areas.
  10. It is not that simple - in this case you have signal power -- which could also easily set off the airbag! I would get the car tested by someone with a PST2 or PIWIS tester to verify the airbag control module problem. It is not an uncommon failure - I have seen at least a half dozen airbag control unit failures. Most in the last 5 years.
  11. I use that same tester (a handy tool for your toolbox). If the original poster is having abnormal current draw with the car OFF and unlocked - then he should start the process of finding the draw. Although it can be a bit time consuming removing a single fuse at a time until the current draw drops is the easiest way for the DIY'er to find the problem circuit and then the problem.
  12. My advice would be to find a "Porsche shop" - someone that has a reputation for working on these cars and get a diagnosis and quote before doing anything rash (like re-building the engine or selling the car).
  13. So the 11s has been superseded by the 202? I can buy either of these at my local Advance Auto Parts. Which one should I get? Thanks for the awesome tutorial and info! It does not make any difference they are 100% compatible. The 11S is likely older stock though...
  14. Total miles on the transmission/differential? Regular fluid changes? and any metal fragments? Any grinding or mechanical noises? I have not heard of any differential problems and I doubt the power difference would cause the problem. Unless of course you go to the drag strip every week... ;)
  15. PCM 2 was introduced in MY2003 Boxster cars along with MOST. So your car should be the older conventional system.
  16. Step 1 - Check and top up ATF level. Check for leaks while you are at it.
