  1. You to disconnect the battery before removing the electrical connectors on the seats - or you will get an airbag light. You will need Durametric, a Porsche PST2 or Porsche PIWIS to clear the airbag code.

  3. No mechanical override that I can see. There is an electric motor on each rear wheel for the handbrake (triggered by the switch). Are you having a problem?

  5. The manual that you are quoting above has not had the 99 supplemental updates it needs to bring up-to-date with corrections and additions. That is why we suggest that folks do not use it. The 2003 revision says 52 ftlb. for GT3 oil pan and 44 ftlb. for the oil tank. (click to enlarge)

  7. This is a 3 year old post that you responded to? There is indeed a fuel filter on MY02 and later 996 series cars. The fuel filter is in the gas tank and in normal operating (barring contamination) it does not need changing. But it can be changed if needed - but that will also require a re-calibration.
  8. Check with your dealer/OPC as there are a couple of TSBs for rattling noises - which may be related to your noise. Also on a car this old you should likely get the coil packs (for the spark plugs) upgraded to the latest version (to prevent power loss and misfires)/

  10. Not easy to test out of the car. It might be better to get access to Durametric, a Porsche PST2, or Porsche PIWIS tester - one of those may point to where the problem is. You did check all the fuses? Yes?
  11. Stoddard Porsche in Ohio specializes in older Porsches - so I would try them first. Also try Sunset (Oregon) or Suncoast (Florida) - a dealer may have to order them from Germany.

  17. There are some other tests you can run with Durametric, a PST2, PIWIS tester to further diagnose the problem area.
  18. The horn is still sold under several brand names - Griots and WOLO for two, Just make sure you get the street legal version.
