  1. When I looked up your VIN I got -- 955 300 011 22 REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION (classification Letter EXT) $10,589.22 This shows as the only valid transmission part number for your VIN.
  2. It would be helpful to know the exact model and year of the car?
  3. Fault code P0730 -- Incorrect gear ratio Possible causes of fault: - 'Mechanical fault', shift solenoid valve (S2) jams - 'Mechanical fault', shift solenoid valve Cl (modulation pressure) jams - 'Mechanical fault', abrupt switching from 'gear 2 to gear 1 ', modulation pressure solenoid valve (main) jams - 'Mechanical fault', hydraulic control unit faulty or screws loose - 'Mechanical fault', clutch or brake band faulty - 'Mechanical fault', ATF pump faulty Fault code P0731 -- Gear "1", incorrect ratio [Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio] Possible causes of fault: - 'Mechanical fault', clutch or brake band faulty - 'Mechanical fault', hydraulic control unit faulty Fault code P0732 Gear "2" , incorrect ratio [Gear 2 Incorrect Ratio] Possible causes of fault: - 'Mechanical fault', clutch or brake band faulty - 'Mechanical fault', hydraulic control unit faulty The P0730 fault points to faulty solenoid(s). An oil change and new valve body would certainly be less expensive than a transmission change.
  4. Exact model and year of your car please?
  5. Yes and no. Most times it is the bolt size and that is a good guesstimate if you do not know for sure. There are a few places where torques are a value plus 90 degrees (or more) so it best to have the factory service manual or at least a copy of the 996 Bentley Service Manual.
  6. The three 13 mm nuts on the inside of the chassis bracket (marked with arrows) will let you rotate the muffler down and out. Seriously a 5 minute job if you remove these. (click to enlarge)
  7. If your lower pulley bolt is a M10 x 145 (8.8) - then 34 ftlb. is spec in the Porsche service manual.
  8. 5 minute job if you remove the 13 mm nuts that hold the bracket to the chassis. All you need is a short 13 mm box or open ended wrench.
  9. Swap the wheel/tire (on the same axle) and see if it follows the wheel/tire.
  10. You only need to bleed the PSM and ABS if the system has been open and gotten air into it. I've been using the motive product for many years - a worthwhile investment for any car or shop (IMHO).
  11. Brown/Blue wire - either cut and tape or take to ground (depending on your radio type).
  12. Looks like the engine case started life in 2001 -- but it was likely a factory rebuilt engine at a later date. Only the service records would show the actual date of install on replacement engines.
  13. If the problem is corrected - the light will reset itself (no fault - no light).
  14. It should be 0781 - so it looks like you will need to contact a dealer or Becker -- sorry.
  15. If you switch the transponder (pill) from one key to the other does it follow the good transponder? If it does then you will likely need to try a re-program of that key with the bad transponder code. If that does not work then buy a new design key and have it programmed to your car.
  16. Did you use the procedure in the Lost Radio Code FAQ to get the serial number? If not, please do so.
  17. P0430 TWC Conversion, Bank 2 - Above Limit Possible fault cause - Oxygen sensor ahead of and after TWC exchanged - Valve lift fault - Aged oxygen sensor after TWC - TWC faulty Bank two is the right side of the engine -- and this would be the O2 sensor between the header (on that side) and the Cat. (996 Engine parts locations)
