How old is your main battery? Cayennes seem to have a number of strange electrical problems when the main battery is weak or failing. If your battery is 4 years old or older I would start by replacing it.

I agree removing the inside door panel is the only way to get at the broken latch mechanism.

Please be more specific - most folks use "CS' For Cayenne S. Is this a Cayenne or a 997-2?
