  1. When I say OEM I mean meets or exceeds Porsche specs. So the right Beru should work. You can always get a great discount at Sunset Porsche in Oregon - be sure and tell that RennTech.org sent you.
  2. I would stick with the Porsche OEM coil packs. Porsche is on the 3rd or 4th generation of them and I would not risk misfires and pre-detonation with the wrong part.
  3. P0171 -- Lambda control adaptation bank X: system too lean Possible fault causes • Incorrect main filling signal from hot-film mass air flow sensor (setpoint voltage with stopped engine and ignition on = 0.9 ... 1.1 V ~ see Actual values, Filter >MAF<, >Mass air flow 1 (sensor)<+ >Mass air flow 2 (sensor)< ) • Oil filler cap leaking • Crankcase ventilation leak • Intake system leaks • Mechanical fault of tank vent (stuck open) • Tank vent driver fault • Leak in exhaust system • Mechanical fault of fuel injector(s) • Wrong fuel high-pressure signal • Timing incorrectly adjusted The most frequent causes of faults are leaks (secondary air) between the throttle and intake valves or at the engine ventilation.
  4. The clutch microswitch will have two wires - one is Yellow with Grey stripe and the other wire is black.
  5. If you have access to a PST2 or PIWIS that might help diagnose. I would not replace the cluster without checking the simple stuff first. start with fuse B7 (15A) -- use ohm meter to verify it out of the circuit. then the switches - again you can use an ohm meter to verify. (click to enlarge)
  6. Does cruise control light come on when you just turn the ignition to "on"? If it does then your problem is in the cruise control.
  7. As I recall the last time they used bulbs in the cluster was MY2001. So if all the lights are out then you may have a wiring or connector issue. Worse case is a bad cluster.
  8. No not really. You need to know the alarm fault codes to pin down the problem zone.
  9. Remember there is a control box with ECU and circuitry to control alarm functions, door locks, and certain lighting. So alarm sensors and switches are going to signal the ECU are going and change of state. (click to enlarge)
  10. They all report back to the central locking/alarm control unit. We will not publish the alarm diagram here for security reasons.
  11. The Porsche testers will tell you precisely where the fault is down to zone level. So it is up to the technician to investigate whether it is a switch or sensor issue or a wiring issue. In my experience -- unless some after market equipment was added the causes are most often the switch or sensor in the faulting zone. Usually a relatively easy fix.
  12. Durametric can do many things a PST2 can but in the case of the Boxster alarm it has limits. You can check them here
