  1. If it does not look like radio above I can not help you. Sorry.
  2. Radio model number from the front of the radio please?
  3. Certainly what Richard said is a possibility. My experience with PIWIS and (it's predecessor PST2) was that when replacing control modules you first had to read out the settings (from the old control module) into the PIWIS - then transfer those setting to the new control module.
  4. Model number of your radio please? (i.e. CDR-220)
  5. This is not a Lost Radio Code - please continue this in a new post giving model and year of your car - and what was done.
  6. You should be able to change this in PIWIS.
  7. From the Porsche TSB showing "approved oils"... I live in the central valley of California - summers temperatures here exceed 108 F fairly often during the summer. I use 0W-40 Mobil 1 and keep my radiators clean with no issues. That includes track days.
  8. Factory fill is Mobil 1 0W-40. Other approved oils for the 996 series are 5W-40 and 5W-50. Personally I would not try any of the "additives" - I have never seen one of those work and in some cases may be the root of other problems. (snake oil?) How long between start ups? If it is more than a day or two I would say that is normal as the oil drains out of the heads. As long as it goes away within a few miles I would not worry about it.
  9. Yes but I doubt that will do you any good it is just one (of many) that go into the instrument cluster. And as I said the trigger speed is programmed into the cluster. The wire connects at B13 connector pin and is labeled "Speedometer A". The wire is Gray/Pink.
  10. It is always helpful if you tell us... What model and year car? And, what model PCM?
  11. The PSE gets a speed signal from the instrument cluster. To my knowledge this is set permanently in the cluster firmware and can not be changed.
  12. As JFP said... Total replacement time needed 30-40 minutes.
  13. Yes, a dealer tool (like PST2 or PIWIS) can test circuit readiness and switch positions. Durametric can not do as much. A list for your car is here: http://www.durametric.com/modelfeaturematrixv6.aspx#996
  14. Have you seen any foam bits come of the vents? A common issue (as these cars age) is the insulation decaying and breaking up - it can even jam the fan. Do you have Durametric to test the circuit and look for faults?
