  2. Ask your dealer to perform the fix "Complaint 7 -- Rattling noises at the seat belt height adjuster in the area of the B-pillar" in TSB 2/00 70.. Noises In The Trim Panel Area dated 6-30-00.

  4. Here is my 2 cents worth... Sorry, I can not give you the prices because I don't have them. Here is what I can tell you -- * Through MY01 there are 2 MAF sensors -- one for non e-gas cars (MY99 C2's) and one for all cars with e-gas (which includes MY99 C4's). MY02 cars all have e-gas so there is only one (yet different) MAF for them. * If you only have a P1130 code without the P1128 code then that signifies your problem is on one bank of the engine. Here is what my Pcode list says: P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 2 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Rich Threshold. Fuel / air mixture is so lean that sensing has reached it's rich thershold. Probable causes are listed as: Intake air system leaking; Fuel pressure too low; Volume of supply fuel pump too low; Fuel injectors fouled. I think I would start looking for any loose or worn vacuum hoses around the intake area. Consider changing the fuel filter. See if you can borrow an MAF from someone to rule it in or out. Finally, I had the dealer replace my MAF under warranty -- twice -- before they realized that the connector on the DME (behind the rear seats) had come loose. So, the MAF's were likely okay. You never know, it could be something easy and even dealers sometimes jump on the MAF too soon. Changing the MAF is pretty simple. There are two special screws that hold it in place. I'll check the tool tomorrow and add to this post. Update: August 25th -- it is a Security Torx with Center Pin -- as David said, basically a Torx with a hole for the pin in the center. p.s I merged your two posts as they were pretty much the same.
  5. That should be it Scott. The opening is still small and I use a clear plastic tube on the end of a syringe.
  6. Sounds like the threaded setscrew adjustment (near locknut) is too tight. Back off on that about 1/2 turn and re-tighten the locknut. You can try it before you reassemble everything. The spring should cause the shifter to self-return.

  10. Yes, I see that bulletin listed on AllData but I don't see it in the Porsche data bank. According to NHTSA there are no recalls for 2002 TT. So the AllData info maybe for other model years? To be sure you may want to check with your dealer. They should be able to check with PCNA's computer database to see if your car's VIN is on any REcall or TSB list.

  12. Don, I tend to work on one side or one end of the car at a time. I have four jack stands but I think it is safer to keep two wheels on the ground when working in my home garage. I can only think of a couple times when I used all four jack stands. When I did I usually raised the rear first. With that said I know some folks like Orient Express that do a lot of (under car) detail and use four stands all the time.
  13. The part number for the MY99-01 C2 was replaced by the MY02 version. That is, if you order the old part number they are supposed to give you the new one. The newer (MY02-) version is part number: 996 559 237 09 70C. The 70 C indicated rally-black which was used on all C2's -- C4's got a Silver logo (996 559 237 07 4PU) which some folks think looks better on dark colored cars. The location on the rear deck lid also changed. Let me know if you need exact dimensions.
  14. There are a couple of ways to mark the cables. To know what we are talking about look at the PDF instructions in the link above. Some folks like to mark the cable positions with tape before disconnecting them so that when you put the new shifter in you have little or no adjustment needed. Another method (for those with good eyesight) is to count the number of threads the coupler is from the end of the cable (usually 5-7 threads). The when you reattach the cables you just put them back at the same thread count.

  18. Interesting that they didn't replace the bellows tube. Those have been a problem on a few older MY99 cars (cracking and leaking). The guess labor is so high because they have to drop the oil pan (drain the oil and refill)... still doesn't seem like more than a couple hours.

  21. Those are the shock tower (spring strut) nuts not the camber adjustment bolts -- 63 ft/lbs
