  1. IMHO... techiques in turns are all out what is beyond the turn. Do you need to let off because of another turn or accelerate down a straight section. There are likely many combinations and with some complex turns you have to try different techniques (i.e. braking earlier and accelerating sooner or braking later and drifting the car at it's limits). There is an advantage to smooth (speed wise) as opposed to upseting the cars balance with a shift or brake action so you may just need to get a stopwatch ;)
  2. I think Gert at Carnewal.com has these complete with all mounting hardware for an excellent price. I know several folks that have gotten them from him. Here are the part numbers (for LHD cars): 996 521 985 01 S30 Left GT3 Seat in Savanna Beige 996 521 986 01 S30 Right GT3 Seat in Savanna Beige
  3. If you are just getting the mufflers installed they default to always open. A muffler only install should take about 1 hour of labor (or you could even do it yourself). If they were installing the electronics that is about a 10 hour job.
  4. Right here in the DIY section
  5. This finish was only offered on Carrera's in MY99 it is called Granite Grey. I call this a no smudge no fingerprint finish. A number of the dash pieces will fit both Boxster and Carrera.
  6. Geoff, You have a number of options including using the earlier "speckle" finish, or carbon fiber or leather or having all the pieces painted.
  7. First I apologize to whomever gave this to me. I try to give credit to those did the work... but I lost the email... sorry Here is the procedure --
  8. Congratulations to (our Moderator) Grant for the article on his classic 73T in the October 2003 Excellence Magazine. :clapping: The article (Carbon Copy) written by Gerry Burger history and creation of this great car. A must read! More photos and a description from Grant can be found here in this thread
  9. As promised... Here is a brief list of New forum features: - Most obvious is the new summary/home page. This page has convenient login, personal message check, search (all messages), and site navigation. It has lists the last 5 NEW messages posted (Latest Discussions) and the last 5 REPLIES (Recent Articles). - A spell checker is now available site wide (including personal mail). - Your mailbox now includes links to your personal mail storage folders. - You can now add a personal photo (linked off site only) to your profile (if you want). - Full text searching available; vastly reduced searching times and improved efficiency. - Fast Reply button opens a Quick Reply box. - You can now do a numbered list (list=1, or list=i, list=a, etc.) for example list=1 would produce 1. Do this 2. Do that 3. Do more, etc. - this should be great for DIY stuff. - You can now add an attachment when editing (your own) post. - Calendar events can now span dates - that is, you can have a 3 day event with one entry. - Clicking on the word "Posted:" in any message will enable you to quickly copy a direct link to any post on the board to share with any other text enabled medium, such as instant messaging software, PDAs, PALMs and even G3 WAP enabled telecommunication devices. Most of the rest of the new features have to do with improved message storage, site speed and moderator options... enjoy!
  10. That part number is for a MY02 or older GT3 so it should fit. Remember that you will need to have a dealer (with a PST2) transfer your mileage and VIN number to the new instrument cluster. This is required by law in the US but I don't know about elsewhere.
  11. They work kind of like an expandable dry wall picture hanger bolt. The one plastic piece goes in first then you screw or push the plastic screw in and it spreads the plastic to make a rivet like connection. None of mine have come out so I think the system works.
  12. The little plastic rivet/screws just pop in. There is really nothing else to it. Not all of mine have washers just a couple of the outside ones. The toughest part of this is the ground clearance... it would probably be easier to work on if you drove up on some boards to get more ground clearance.
  13. Thanks guys.... upgrade is almost done... lots of new features... :clapping:
  14. Chris, Do you have the part number(s) for what they replaced?
  15. I think Gert has a set of drop link mounts too. Try emailing him at Gert@Carnewal.com
  16. I just did this two days ago... I should have taken pictures. I used P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner. I took the wheels off the car sprayed them with the cleaner and let the spray sit for about 10 minutes. Then I took a sponge and scrubbed them -- surprisingly even tar just popped off the wheels. Sprayed them off with water, dryed them. Then I waxed the wheels before putting them back on. Took about an hour.
  17. Patrick is correct. Here is a couple of pics...
  18. We will be updating the forum software very soon so they might be some slight interruptions and some fine tuning for a day or two. I'll post a short list of new features when the changes are complete. Thank you for your patience!!
  19. For a MY99 C2 use: A and B = 129.6 mm and C = 35 +-1 mm
  20. Yes, you may need to use some 3M adhesive remover also. Here are the dimensions for a MY01 C4
  21. Jeff is right. All cars with Litronics/Bi-Xenons have these angle sensors for automatic headlight beam adjustment on the left front and left rear.
  22. The parts guide just calls it "sensor" and calls out option M601... but M601 is not defined in the list...
  23. We made a separate forum catagory for Cayenne so that is can have it's own DIY, Tips and Tricks, as well as Part Number section. Enjoy! :D
