  1. Well, it might be best to have the whole car there so they can dyno tune to match your mods. But here is how you remove the DME. Remove the DME/Relay Support 2 cover. Best to disconnect the battery first then remove the 4 bolts on the metal cover and tilt up to unbolt remove the DME.
  2. The part number for a black ashtray is: 996 552 595 01 A03
  3. If you have a CDR220 then you can not use the CDC-4 Changer. The CDC-4 Changer is MOST (optical bus) only and works with the CDR-23. You will need a CDC-3 Changer a mounting bracket and harness. I got my Becker branded (rather Porsche branded) changer with harness and mounting for under $450 from Continental Imports. The model is Becker Silverstone 2660 and is an exact replacement (except it says Becker). It takes about one hour to install and Jeff and I will be glad to help you... except most of our "work on cars days" in San Jose.
  4. :welcome: and thank you for your donation! All of the mating parts are the same (according to the parts list). If you are using an older DME (non-egas) I think you will be okay. If you are using a new DME -- I don't know what it will do without egas. Perhaps there is a switch in the DME software to turn it off? If not, you would need the older DME.
  5. Yes, either a 50/50 mix or for colder climates 60/40. The coolant is a special "lifetime" coolant that never needs to be changed (unless it leaks out of course). Well, the part list calls it "water reservoir" and normal practice would be to replace any lost coolant with a water/coolant mix.
  6. 96 ft-lbs. You might also want to have them check the wheel for trueness. A slightly bent wheel can also cause shimmy.
  7. 996 613 144 10 A05 is used for LHD cars and is on the right side of the console. 996 613 155 10 A05 looks like this and does not specify a side No, the switch is a separate part. 996613 987 10 A05 Switch, sports exhaust system; installation location> right of radio 996613 988 10 A05 Switch, sports exhaust system; installation location> left of radio
  8. My first thought would be the Polyrib belt... or possibly the air pump going bad.
  9. Sure! Just add it to the DIY section. Let me know if you need any help...
  10. That is where the fuel filter is attached on a GT2, GT3, or TT.
  11. The order guide says "Sport chassis with more rigidly tuned springs, shock absorbers and stabilizer bars.". The rear shocks are the only items with a different part number from the "US Sport" parts. A green dot usually IDs a sport shock. I do not know what the gray dot is. Is that only on the rear shocks?
  12. We have added some new features you may or may not have noticed. Here is a brief listing: 1. Minor addition - Random selected factory scenes on the opening page. If you click on the image you will get a larger high quality version of the image. 2. Maintenance Checklists for Carrera (worldwide). (here) 3. External Paint Colors and paint codes. (here) 4. MY04 Order Guides (for US and Canada). (here) 5. Current TSB listings for all (current) models. Besides viewing the listing, Contributing Members can view the TSB content. (here) 6. Garage buttons have been added to the Memberlist functions and at the bottom of each post you make (just like email or WWW buttons). Also, the Latest Updates in the Garage are now on the home page. Please let me know if you see any problems with the new stuff. Your comments are always welcome. Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to All!
  13. It has been order guide option "CUP" (or sticker option M454) for as long as I can remember. Sometime Porsche refers to it as speed control rather cruise control.
  14. Have a look at this thread
  15. You can download the PDF section by section here. I merged them into one 115 MB PDF file. If you want that... I'd have to send you a CDROM.
  16. Karl, I sent you an email with diagrams...
  17. Sounds like your dealer/installer put the relay and socket in position 24. Look at the back of position 24 and see if the there is a gray/pink wire - that is the Speedometer A signal which triggers the relay cutout. If it is on the socket side of position 24 then you've got the right socket.
  18. It will support the metal hinge (all consoles will) but it looks like one has never been installed. You might want to buy the hinge kit 996 552 960 01 If they don't give you the installation TSB let me know and I'll email it to you.
  19. Any console that has had a failed hinge (old hinge was plastic) has had the upgrade kit installed. The hinge upgrade involves pop-riveting the new metal hinge on. You have choices depending on the console - buy a new style hinge (if your new arctic silver console supports it), -- or drill out the pop rivets and move the hinge to the new console and put in new pop rivets -- or buy another replace hinge kit.
  20. IMHO anytime you change the intake volume or exhaust backpressure you likely need to adjust the DME. For minor changes the DME can "re-learn" itself (after disconnecting the batttery for 5 minutes). For changes that are more extensive you really need a good shop with a dyno to get the most out of the new setup. This also usually involves a programming change in the DME.
  21. Here are the torque values: headers to head 19 ft-lbs. muffler hanger (three 13 mm nuts) 17 ft-lbs. cat pipe to muffler clamps 34 ft-lbs tailpipe clamp 22 ft-lbs. Use a new gasket between the header and the cylinder head. That's it.
  22. You've got mail... There are no schematics that show the PSE function. The speedometer A wire signals the relay when the car is between and 35 and 45 MPH. The relay then moves a solenoid in the engine compartment that switches the vacuum valve on each muffler causing the flap to move and no longer bypass that section of the muffler. If the speed exceeds 45 MPH the relay opens the exhaust valves again. Using the switch you can override the speedometer link and have quiet at any time you want or do a complete bypass that will have quiet only when the switch is on.
  23. Your dealer maybe correct as I have not seen a TSB for this yet. The parts list does show a new part number with a "use instead" marking. There are two cardan shafts listed (one for the S and one for the Turbo) but I don't know which is for which... so you'll have to look at the part number on your current one. For the 955 421 020 10 use the new cardan shaft 955 421 020 11 or for the 955 421 020 20 use the new cardan shaft 955 421 020 21.
  24. Unplug the battery for at least 5 minutes -- remember to find your radio codes first ;)
  25. The bulb is: 900 631 106 90 The socket assembly includes: 959 632 201 01 light 815 971 989 B plug socket N 017 490 6 connectors (2 needed) Chances are you just need the bulb and holder (what they call light)
