  1. The PSE valves are open by default. Install the mufflers -- you are done! :D :D :D
  2. No, only the ones that Porsche intended for the center console horseshoe. The batwing at the bottom generally does not have LH and RH switches. No, this switch is only available in one version. The primary location for this switch is the batwing. If you are removing just the horseshoe, yes. I think ToolPants already posted some pics of this. If you need to remove the vent there is a clip that needs to be depressed with a screwdriver.
  3. Yes, Grey/Pink is correct for a MY01 Cab.
  4. Try sending Jay a PM or email... it's not too hard but you do need a plug for the hole. For the 3 center dash strips - Kevin documented his process here
  5. Interior rear side panels? If, so I can send you a PDF file.
  6. The Porsche Workshop Manual states it like this (bolded where they bolded): With that said... most folks don't. I am sure any car maker does this for liability reasons. Personally, I check them for any signs of wear and replace them if there is any.
  7. From the Service Manual... 1. Unclip roof joint strip Lift at both ends using a plastic spatula and unclip all the way along. 2. Pull off roof joint seal Pull the roof joint seal out of the groove of the roof joint strip. 3. Unclip roof joint clips On the outside of the roof joint clip and roof joint strip, insert a narrow screwdriver in the center and press the screwdriver outward until the roof joint clip disengages. 4. Unclip fold-out element Insert a screwdriver beneath both ends of the fold-out element, and lever out. 5. Detach spreader Insert a plastic spatula into the wedge piece of the spreader and push. Remove the spreader. 6. Remove interior trim parts Lift up the clothes hook bracket at the bottom with a plastic spatula and pull off. Pull away the A and C-pillar trim and remove. 7. Detach the roof liner Unclip the metal strut of the roof liner from the plastic clips. 8. Detach base plate of Roof Transport System. Unscrew hexagon socket head bushing a/f 8 (micro-encapsulated). Remove the base plate from the roof channel.
  8. It would help if we knew what parts you have now (and where) i.e.radio, Nav, etc.) and what positions you want them in. Thanks...
  9. There are 11 plastic rivets (999 507 427 40) that you kind need to unscrew and pry out (at the same time). You may have to jack up the front just to get enough room to work though.

If you are adding or removing MOST (fiber optical components) the MOST controlling computer(s) need to know what parts are activated. All the cars computers are programed by the Porsche PST2 (system tester). The MOST system is an all or nothing system. That is, you can not mix and match MOST components with non-MOST (conventional) components.
  11. The list is too long to post here. Contributing Members get full access to available TSBs ;)
  12. I sent you the TSB via email. The door sill guards are held in place by double sided tape. Most folks remove them by first marking their original positions (to make putting the new ones on easier) and then heating them with a hair dryer one end at a time and sliding dental floss underneath to "cut" the glue. It takes a little time for each one and you might want to have some 3M adhesive remover handy to clean up when you are done. Keep the heat source away from the 3M adhesive remover!
  13. You are correct neither the Turbo parts list or Tequipment show a listing for the embossed armrest (only the leather armrest cover). Try emailing gert@carnewal.com as he sometimes can get special order items.
  14. I'll try to add this to my DIY section. Here is a quick version... 1. Remove the complete air cleaner assembly. Remove the hexagon-head bolt M6 x 34. Remove the hose clamp on the throttle body. Pull off plug from hot film mass air flow sensor and completely remove air cleaner assembly. 2. Remove the captive fastening screws (9 ea.), remove air cleaner. 3. Clean air cleaner housing and air cleaner cover. 4. Insert new air filter insert.
  15. Have a look at the Winter Tires and Wheels TSB (number 4440) in the Cayenne TSB section. That is what Porsche recommends.
  16. Without part numbers or pics it's hard to say. If you can post pics perhaps someone from the RennTech team (or Gert) can identify them.
  17. Yes, and no. On the older cars (pre MY02) it depends on the tire manufacturer. MY02 (and later) cars have a slightly different rear wheel opening and has been radiused back a bit. You can likely do this to older cars but it will require some repainting.
  18. Hmm... you lost me there. If you have a MY03 that came with 18" wheels then the fronts should be 8". (see the 911 Tequipment wheel table at the Porsche site)
  19. There are at least seven swaybars just for the front of a 996 depending on standard vs sport and 6 speed vs Tiptronic and 2WD vs 4WD and Coupe vs Cab vs Targa. All Turbos are 4WD and a Turbo Coupe weighs 500 pounds more than a 996 coupe. IMHO... If it did fit, I doubt it would improve the handling over a sport swaybar or an adjustable GT3 bar.
  20. As of TSB 4b/01 4440 Summer Tire and Wheel Summary Supplement (dated 3-5-2003) Model Year: As of '02 Additional approved tire makes for summer tires. Tire Sizes -- 295/30 ZR 18 Tire Make -- Michelin Pilot Sport N1 So, as long as your fronts are 8" wheels you should be okay for handling.
  21. For 10J x 18 wheels the "standard" size is 265/35 x 18. In MY02 when they went from 7.5" front wheels to 8" front wheels the standard size for the rears went to 285/30 x 18.
  22. RMS failures, yes there are some still - but still a very small percentage of total cars. Bearing failures are very very rare. For example, my MY99 has had one RMS leak at about 8000 miles and has been dry since. Porsche has improved the seal and the method of training dealers to install it. Furthermore, Porsche has provided dealers with a special tool that checks the crankcase halfs to make sure they are within spec - so the new seal will not fail again. If your engine fails the test - you get a new engine (so far whether you are in warranty or not!).
  23. Go to the TSB section and look at Boxster TSB 2015 (Boxster Fuel Tank Hose Modification). Hope that helps...
