  1. You are turning on MOST control modules and coding the country specific options in those modules. You can only do this with a PIWIS tester (at this time).
  2. Is the safety catch bent? We have seen a few of those (from folks forcing the trunk closed). Get down at eye level with he latch and slowly close it and see if the safety latch is rubbing or not aligned properly.
  3. Porsche has used the industry standard OBD II connector (J1962) since 1996. So any OBD II reader should have this connector.
  4. That part number works on MY03 - on Cayennes.
  5. The easiest place in the phone prep plug in the center console - but I'm not sure that UK cars get that as standard. Do a search here for "phone prep". If you don't have the connector then post again and I'll have a look at the schematics.
  6. You should read TSB: 6/04 9112 Porsche Communication Management PCM 2.1, Including Navigation Module Installation Instructions -- dated 1-27-05. This TSB is 11 pages long and covers parts needed and the installation process for the PCM2.1 in a 987.
  7. It should not hurt the car. If the CEL resets itself then the problem has been corrected and everything is meeting specs.
  8. According to Michael Cotton (European Editor) Porsche Panorama Magazine (February 2006) -- the Carrera GT will go out of production in April of this year. Looks like the final count since production started in 2003 will be just over 1200 cars. :( Sad to see such an extraordinary car go out of production - but then I said that about the 959 too... ;)
  9. Both of those codes have at least one potential cause as EVAP canister. You should never fill the car with it running - it will give a CEL every time. If the gas cap is loose or leaking it will give a CEL. Thank the EPA for that one. If you reseat the gas cap the CEL will clear itself in 2-3 days of normal driving.
  10. M265 is anti dazzle mirror and rain sensor - but it could have been added afterwards. Sorry, I have no idea on M584.
  11. This is pretty hard to get wrong. If the filter is on right then you should not see any threads showing.
  12. As long as the light is not flashing it is okay to drive the car. If the light is flashing that means that you will damage the cats ($$) if you continue to drive.
  13. The center of the filter "presses" on to the filter holder - so you do have to push a little. The Boxster, Carrera, Cayenne Turbo, Cayman all mount this way.
  14. Okay, I understand now. They are different - primarily the way the pull handle attaches to the door. I doubt it would work.
  15. What is a "door card"?
  16. Are you sure it is not 586 - Back support left seat?
  17. If you have a voltmeter you can monitor the Brown/Yellow wire from the handbrake and see what the voltage is in both positions.
  18. Probably a firmware update (via PIWIS) or CD/DVD. There have been a bunch of changes/updates/upgrades on PCM2.x.
  19. It can't do the ABS brake bleed or other special (PST2) functions at this time. It can read and reset codes for the DME, airbag, ABS, air conditioning / heating, and seat memory. It can read but not reset the alarm codes (at this time).
  20. Yes.
  21. No TSB that I know of - if it is not locking then you should get an alarm chirp when you lock the car.
  22. See the thread on the Durametric product here. I have one now for evaluation.
  23. Yes, I think so.
  24. LSD = Limited Slip Differential Limited slip ensures that some torque is always distributed to both wheels, even when one is on a very slipper surface. Most of Porsche's LSD options offer 40% locking. From the GT3 overview
  25. P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation, Idle Range, Bank 2 – Below Limit Fuel/air mixture is so rich that sensing is up to its lean threshold. potential causes: – Incorrect signal from MAF sensor – Fuel pressure too high – Fuel injector leaking – EVAP canister purge valve open
