  1. 1. Usually a battery lasts 4 to 5 years. It is not uncommon to lose one in 3 years though. 2. Any good 70 Ah to 80 Ah battery of the proper physical size with a venting system (that can be connected to the cars vent) will work fine. We chose the Duralast 48-DL because of it's proper fit, venting system and 7 year warranty - all for about $65. 3. An 80 Ah battery from Porsche (999.611.080.20) has an MSRP of $181.11 (as of April 2006). 4. Yes, you can use the Porsche battery maintainer on any battery old or new. The newer designed battery maintainers shut off when the proper charge is met so they will not over charge the battery.
  2. It is a 50 - 50 chance it is just the buckle and not the ground wire connections. The buckle wears the most but a bad ground can cause the same fault. See the airbag light/seat belt buckle TSB. I replaced the buckle only for a Boxster guy and so far no more airbag lights. So somtimes you get lucky...
  3. Remember that the transmission is the front support of the engine. So you need to support the engine if you remove the transmission.
  4. Also have a look here.
  5. ... my mistake I was thinking this was a different post
  6. The only way to tell for sure is to get the alarm fault code(s). You can do that with a PST2, PIWIS tester or the Durametric Software. A PST2 will allow you to test each individual component of the alarm/central locking system.
  7. Two drain plugs - 37 ft/lbs. (50 Nm) Oil filter canister - 19 ft/lbs. (25 Nm)
  8. Post your fault codes please (all of them).
  9. Richard, I sent you a PM...
  10. Yes, both have been covered here many times - try using Search.

  12. I've read throught he complete sunroof removal and installation section in the service manual and there is no mention of any glued pointed. There is however some information in the roof liner replacement section.

  14. If you can find a shop with a PST2 or PIWIS tester the ambient light sensor is prety easy to check. Just cover the sensor for one reading and then shine a flashlight on it for another reading. It should change somewhat like below: Dark reading on left - Bright reading on right.
  15. Do you have a credit card? If so, there is an option on the PayPal page to pay with VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or discover credit cards.
  16. Hmm... I guess it could be a bad cluster. Still under warranty?
  17. If you wiggle the light switch does anything change? Headlight switches have gone bad on a few cars.
  18. I think he is talking about the one up front next to the condenser. But is is not listed separately in PET either.
  19. Yes - same for 986, Air Conditioning -> Modify Coding (like it says at the top of the screenshot).
  20. Highlight Temperature unit hit >> (coding key) and change.
  21. Loren, I want to get my dealer to do the switch from Fahrenhuit to Celsius on the AC/Heater control. Can you please provide instruction for the PST2 process. He didn't know how to do it. I have an 03 Boxster S. Thx Have you tried this? Press and hold the recirculation button. Then press the temperature up ("+") button to switch between degrees Celsius & Fahrenheit on the Climate Control Temperature and Instrument Panel Outside Temperature displays.
  22. Coils for sure. A bad cat could ruin the O2 sensor. The DME can not compensate for all those errors.
  23. These alone would cause misfires and fault codes.
