  1. In modern Porsche's the (solid) brown wire is always ground. If there is not a brown wire then just hook up the volt meter - if the circuit is working then it will read either +12 volts or - 12 volts.
  2. I'm pretty sure a pre-face lift GT3 Cup car bumper will fit - but I think the GT3 RS bumper would require some additional mounting points.
  3. A member here wrote up a detailed DIY here.
  4. Those are just hose clamps to keep dust and dirt out. Just get a spring-screw type clamp from your local automotive store and put that on when you are done.
  5. Do you have P-codes? Did the tech run a compression test? on all cylinders?
  6. A GT3 mark I bumper should fit. What is the part number on the bumper?
  7. They are likely glued in place. 996.505.325.91 The grill is a Porsche MotorSports part number so it would be special order from a dealer - and likely more than you paid for your bumper... You can try Sunset Imports - maybe they can get you a good price.
  8. I corrected your pictures so they would show properly... You can download or view the Porsche PET (parts/assmebly) catalog here.
  9. Since you have both P1121 and P1122 that would seem to signify that the throttle position sensor is not getting any signal. Here is the wiring connection from the DME to the throttle position sensor. The P1219/P1578 would seem to signify that the accelerator pedal sensor is also open. Here is the wiring diagram from the DME to the pedal sensor. This would suggest that the possible faults are the pedal sensor, the throttle position sensor, the wiring to these from the DME, or the DME itself.
  10. They are not grills - they are molded into the bumper shell. GT3 Cup GT3RS (full race)
  11. Adjusting the pushrod length changes the position of the brake pedal. To do this, undo the lock nut and turn the pushrod accordingly at the hexagon (see arrow). The brake pushrod is correctly set if the dimension X is 45 + 5 mm. Perform measurement between the center of the brake pedal plate and the accelerator. You should also check adjustment of the brake light switch if brake pushrod is adjusted.
  12. Someone asked this question via a PM so I thought I would share the answer here... "When I floor the pedal, the Throttle Plate Angle says 80%... is it supposed to be 80%? Or am I missing 20%?" That reading is correct. Here is the Durametric Software reading (on my car) and the reading I took with my PST2. Also, here is the test from the OBD II manual: QUOTE
  13. If it is square looking then it sounds like the Litronics sensor (for when you are going uphill to adjust your headlights down). The ABS/PSM sensors are round and on the wheel hub carrier.
  14. Here is an update on the Durametric Software that I got today. They have added the Cayenne as a supported vehicle and once again increased it's diagnostic/reporting capabilities. I will try and setup a test session (locally) for anyone that wants to see it in action on their car -- if it ever stops raining here...
  15. I agree it almost looks like the DME cable is loose or partially un-plugged or got very wet.
  16. Contributing Members can view TSBs online, use the Retail Price Search feature, access the Contributors Only Forum. 17. P1128 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 2 (Cylinders 1 - 3) - Rich Threshold P1130 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 2 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Rich Threshold What this means is that the DME can not add enough fuel to mixture to make it meet burn and emissions standards. In short - you are running too lean. Potential causes for this are intake air leaks (such as loose or broken hose, a cracked /broken oil filler tube, or a bad oil separator) and/or a bad MAF. O2 sensors just read the results of a bad fuel/air mix - so I doubt you have a bad O2 sensor. This really has been covered here many many times. Perhaps try searching for "P1128" and "P1130" next time...
  18. 993.555.545.00 Felt Strip (15 mm wide) -- MSRP $1.50 (all prices as of March 2006) 964.555.565.00 Wide felt tape (25mm wide) -- MSRP $0.76 999.911.227.40 Sponge (foam) rubber tape (25mm wide) -- MSRP $6.56
  19. Read the TSBs about top and window noises ;)
  20. Yup... you hit the bad word filter
  21. It is pretty much the same as a pre-face lift 996. See my 3rd Radiator install instructions here.
  22. Carefully lift the horseshoe and check underneath to see if any clips are missing or broken.
  23. Felt tape like you used elsewhere. ;)
  24. I would have the electrolyte in your battery checked. Also, if you jiggle the ignition key does that make any difference?
