  1. If you want to know what the fault code (and cause) is -- then you will need the Durametic Software or a shop with a Porsche PST2 or PIWIS tester. The most common problem on the vintage car is bad electrical connections on the buckles. The fault code will tell you which one.
  2. 1. Removing cover trim -- Remove the cover trim 1 at the left and right towards the front. 2. Undoing fastening screw -- Unscrew the fastening screw 2 at the left and right. 3. Pulling out the sound package -- Pull the sound package 3 in the direction of the arrow out of the bracket 4 and fold over. 4. Disconnecting the plug connection -- Press plugs 5 together and pull apart.

  5. You are correct that on a TT the clutch and brake system are completely separate and even use different fluids. One should not effect the other. If bleeding or pumping the brakes does not improve the pedal feel then the problem is likely pad taper or the pads were overheated or the pads were not bedded in properly. Usually when it is a bad master cylinder you can detect bleed down when holding the brake pedal down. Has the car been driven since the brake pad and fluid change? and were the two done together at the same time? Was the ABS/PSM system also bled?
  6. Yes, change it now and at least every two years going forward. If you track the car then plan on 2-3 times per year.
  7. It all depends on the model year and whether the order code has been entered in the DME. My advice is that if your shop/dealer is not competent to find these options in their PST2 or PIWIS - then find another shop/dealer.
  8. I don't think that is high enough to worry about. The fans are behind the radiators. Just make sure that both the radiator and A/C condensers are clean of debris.
  9. From the 2002 Porsche Service Information Technik book: "The engine, power train, basic running gear, body and interior of the 911 Targa is the same as the base 911 Coupé." And... all 996 Carrera's except the C4S use the same brake pads. C4S uses the same brake pads as the 996 TT.
  10. You need a new ignition switch. If you want to change it yourself - there is a lot of detail here and here.
  11. I doubt that the MAF is damaged - it wasn't in my case. The real test is to go back to the stock intake - clear the code and see if it comes back.

  13. If you just want to read and reset codes - Durametric Software (on your notebook computer) works very well - about $250. A Porsche PST2 (version 24) can program some but not all modules - occasionally available on eBay - about $3000-$4000 . A Porsche PIWIS tester can do it all - about $18,000 per year (lease) from any Porsche dealer.
  14. I would have them test the RPM crankshaft position sensor.
  15. All Boxsters (and Carreras) have CAN (Controller Area Network) bus items that are used for controller to controller communication (i.e. DME to Tiptronic, Instrument Cluster, PCM, PSM, POSIP (airbags), etc.). Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controller_Area_Network. MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a networking standard intended for interconnecting multimedia components.   16. The speedometer A signal is a grey/pink wire on relay socket 23 BS 1/1.
  17. Put the stock intake back on - clear the code and see if it comes back. My guess is that it won't - and you will want your money back from EVO. I went through this 3 years ago and they could never make it work on my car with a CEL. I returned mine.

  20. You can't code/change anything unless the model code is the DME. You need the proper fiber optic cable(s) depending on your options. (This is for a LHD MY04 Boxster - other years/models may vary) I do not know if having OBC on makes any difference. It is simple enough to do - in two places - DME and instrument cluster.
  21. Did they activate navigation in the instrument cluster? Did you get the right fiber optic cables for your cars previous configuration? For the speakers they must not have tested the MOST configuration or they would have noticed the rear speakers were missing? Sounds like they need to walk back through all of the MOST devices.
