  1. For a MY99 C4 -- 996.620.103.00 996.620.102.00 is for a MY99 C2
  2. You could always rule the tyres and wheels out by swapping with another Carrera owners for a few minutes. It might seem like a lot of trouble but it would tell you for sure if the problem is the tyres and wheels.
  3. You asked for clutch bleeding so that is what I put in the previous post. Here is the power steering procedure...
  4. Your PET is very old -- mine is from September 2006 ;) In my September 2006 version it says that 996.352.949.02 has been replaced by 996.352.949.03
  5. The original 996 (narrow body) had 7.5 inch wheels in front with 225 x 18 tires. The rears were 10 inch wheels with 265 x 18 tires. In MY02 Porsche changed the front wheel width to 8 inches with the same tire size. In MY02 the rear wheel width remained the same but the tire width went up to 285 x 18, The result was that the handling remained about the same (understeer vs oversteer). So no, wider tires on the rear will cause more understeer. You can counter balance that with wider wheels and/or tires in the front.
  6. Per the 996TT workshop manual... 1. Fill supply tank. 2. Open bleeder valve on the servo unit. Note: - Make sure that the reservoir is not sucked dry. Top up during the procedure if necessary! 3. Pump with the clutch pedal until Pentosin emerges without air bubbles at the bleeder valve of the servo unit (use collecting bottle). Notes: - If a bleeding device filled with Pentosin is available, clutch bleeding can proceed in the same manner as for previous systems! - To do this, the bleeding device is connected to the clutch reservoir at the front! - The clutch high−pressure hydraulic system does not need to be bled in a special manner! - It is sufficient to actuate the clutch pedal approx. 10 times with the engine running! · The steering hydraulic system is bled in the usual manner!
  7. No, never tried. But I likely will on the next DME 7.8 I see that is chipped.
  8. Is there a specific area or question? The engine schematics are on two very large pages. Of course you can always buy the schematics for your model year at the Porsche Tech website for about $110 US. Porsche Technical Service Information
  9. From the TSB... To me this would only affect cars with DME 7.8 and newer (MY02 and newer). And... it would appear that Porsche (through IPAS) keeps a checksum code of the original DME program and any "authorized" DME upgrades.
  10. They are both from disconnecting your MAF. P0102 is an open in the MAF circuit and P0112 is the MAF temperature sensor. You MAF air flow looks a little low - it should be 12 to 24 kg/h (or 3.3 to 6.6 g/s). Are you sure you don't have an air leak on bank 2?
  11. Do your seats have lumber support? That is the only spring I can think of that is that long. Unless... it is the cable for the backrest release?
  12. I think it is near the ABS block in the front trunk - drivers side under the black plastic cover (brake fluid / washer fluid cover).
  13. Perhaps if you had a picture or drawing of what they look like there might be more interest.
  14. No - just remove the key from the ignition. Just remove the relay and work on the relay out of the car. Then plug it back in.
  15. 986.114.012.05 Dual mass flywheel -- $1175.41 CDN (as of September 2006)
  16. We have had a number of requests to have a forum category area for discussion of diagnostic tools and tips. We have created a new forum (under Other) called Diagnostics, Tips and Tools. This forum is for discussion of tools like the PST2, PIWIS and Durametric software as well as other diagnostic and scan tools. As we have a number of members that are independent shop owners and techs we have an excellent source for both questions and answers. To be competitive with dealership shops many of these independent tuning and repair shops have these special diagnostic tools and are very proficient at there use. Please keep your question in this forum specific to the diagnostics tools, tips and tricks - model specific questions should still be posted in the appropriate model area. Thanks and enjoy!
  17. If it is the Aerokit Cup spoiler lip (MY01 and older) it does not use any tape.
  18. Double sided tape (that is the spec number). I don't see the tape in the parts list it says it comes with the spoiler lip (MY02 and newer).
  19. For MY01 and older use: Item 4 -- 999.507.427.40 expansion rivet (11 needed) For MY02 and newer use: Item 20 -- 999.507.497.40 expansion rivet (21 needed) and PTL4037 - PUR - GF15 - SW adhesive tape.
  20. Front set: 996.351.949.12 Rear set: 996.352.949.03
  21. MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) is the same as CEL (Check Engine Light). MIL is the term OBD II and Porsche use.
  22. Yes and no. There is only one fuel filter and it is under the car (as shown above) on C2 and Boxsters. On C4 and MY02 and later cars (including C4S) it mounts next to the coolant tank.
  23. Yes, the rear engine cover has not changed. Only the widebody (C4S, TT, GT2) won't fit.
