  1. The year is not a factor. Standard knobs pull off - optional knobs (leather/aluminum, carbon fiber, wood, etc.) all have set screws.
  2. I don't think so. Bosch makes the PIWIS for Porsche and they have defended their intellectual property quite often. PIWIS is made in Germany and the volume is so low that I seriously doubt someone would take the time to copy it. Then there are the updates - dealerships/OPCs get updates nightly on the Porsche network.
  3. According to the TSB 17 mm spacers can be on the rear only of a 20" wheel as long as the wheel is 9 inches wide (not 10 inches).
  4. You can go the original number (4674) and add or subject by 2. Sometimes that works - sometimes you have to contact a dealer or Becker.
  5. If it were bad gas - then why does only one cylinder misfires?
  6. I would start by checking the coil pack and spark plug on cylinder 1.
  7. From the Donation page "Once your Donation is verified, it will be processed, and a confirmation e-mail will be sent to your (PayPal) e-mail address. This may take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24 hours." You were upgraded within 2 hours (I was still asleep when your donation came in).
  8. i dont have anything on my drivers side door, but my passenger side door has this info 996.701.423.00. Whats that mean built in 4/23? I have a 1999 c4 Run your VIN through the VIN decoder and it will tell you.
  9. Try 4674 or 4672
  10. 987 approved tires/wheels (summer)
  11. The people that know how to get in and out of the DME(s) is Durametric. They did/do the research to make their excellent code reader/diagnostic tool work very well. My guess is they know the ins and outs but are not likely to want to take responsibility for you re-programming your car and blowing up the engine. I wouldn't want that responsibility either.
  12. Yes, install is covered in TSB 6/04 6629 Child Car Seat Preparation For Front Passenger Seat -- dated Apr 25, 2005. All TSBs are available here to view by our Contributing Members. For more information about how to become a Contributing Member click here.
  13. Try 4630 or 4628

  16.   $160 for a USED Owners Manual
  17. It is the behind the "alien eye" looking lens in the upper console.
  18. That would be a 986 Boxster only. To my knowledge Porsche has never produced a printed manual for the 987 or 997 series cars - only electronic versions.
  19. The folks at Sunset Imports (Porsche Parts at Dealer Cost) have sent me a note saying that they have a limited quantities of factory repairs manuals on sale. 21. No real need to reset the code it will just keep counting up any errors.
  22. It varies by state. There is a listing here.
  23. Fault code 33 Passenger compartment: monitoring sensor faulty I would just watch the frequency counter - right now it has only happened twice. If it continues to happen then you need to replace the passenger compartment monitoring sensor.
  24. You can go the original number (5292) and add or subject by 2. Sometimes that works - sometimes you have to contact a dealer or Becker.
  25. I know this is a long thread but "how to display your serial number" is covered here... please have a read. Very sorry. I must have missed that the first time I read through.
