on Armand's C4S Porsche factory short shift install. There is some slop from the cables to the transmission no matter what you are using as a lever to change the gears. I would say I could be off 1/8" either way. Henry V. did the math.

The B&M clone before we put it in.

The bolt is not as long as a B&M and the flat blade is machined a bit differently.

Otherwise it is identical - down to the tube of made in the US grease.

I would like to meet the person that came up with the instructions. You are supposed to disconnect both cable connectors while the shift tower is bolted in place. Good luck trying to remove the blue connector while the tower is bolted down. I had to unbolt the tower and turn it on the side to get to it.

Here are the cable connectors still hooked up to the cables. I am never going to do it the Porsche way again.

Now I understand why Porsche charges 3 times as much for their short shifter. It's the fashionable black paint :D (the B&M blue is so yesterday, as my 9 year old daughter would say :D )...and...the top is flat...probably saved a gram or 2 of weight...

Toolpants(Jeff?),

Are the B&M instructions the way to go? Does the Porsche shifter feel any different compared to the B&M? And thanks, you just saved me a couple of bucks.

There are many ways to do the same thing. If the result is the same then it does not matter.

We have filmed several B&M installs and also on Saturday the Porsche short shift for the DVDs.

Both are, for all practical purposes, identical. The instructions have nothing to do with this product. After about 30 installs you learn how to improve and not be tied down to any instructions. Jeff
