How to replace OEM radio with OEM shelf?

Does anyone have instructions on how to replace the radio with the OEM shelf? I looked through the workshop manual table of contents but didn't find anything relevant.

Thanks, I got the trim piece off, and was able to release the cage holding the radio and the A/C delete panel, but I haven't yet figured out how to release the radio from the cage. The workshop references instructions for radio removal, but I can't find them in my copy.

The four speakers in the car are pretty small and light. 3lbs total for all of them.

You need Becker radio keys to remove the radio. Both Jeff and I have a set if you need to borrow them. DO NOT pay $15 or more on eBay for these -- they are $1.80 from Becker!

If you are trying to figure out how to remove the radio head you need the removal keys like Loren says. The pointy ends stick into slots in the face of the radio to unlock it. Then you put a finger in each round end and pull. This is an older Boxster but it is the same on your car. Jeff

Alright, I got my radio out, but how do you get the radio removal keys out of the radio slots?

I don't want to tug too hard and break anything.

I'm investigating putting in the Becker Aux connector for my MP3 player.

Hey, one step forward...push the blue lever buttons on the sides and the tools release.

What am I doing wrong to get the stereo seated?

I feel like I'm hitting something in the back left side?

I tucked the wires back into the panel, but still I'm jamming into something but don't see anything that can get in the way.

Down and then up, then push.

There's a lip at the bottom of the radio slot and 2 lips at the top.

Push in and downward to hit the bottom of the case, lift up and in to guide the flap upwards, and then it's straight back to get the radio all the way in.

No, I'm waiting for a BlueTooth reciever for the PCar, lose the wires, and connect my cell or PocketPC to it instead. It will be cleaner (without wires).

As for the $16 Becker harness, it looks very simple:

1- Yank stereo

2- Unplug Blue harness (keeping the line from the required cd changer)

3- Add new Blue harness

4- Fish cable around to where you can reach it.

If you've figured out how to get the radio out with the Becker tool, the operation appears to take less than 10 minutes and you're good to go.

Does this work for a MOST stereo?

I thought there wasn't an easy way to get auxiliary input for these MOST stereos.

The aux-in adapter sold by Becker only works with the 220 radio and the last year for that radio was 2002.
