MAF readings

So I missed the Tech Session...and guess what I got... Yes, a CEL. :(

Took it to the RMG place and people were very very friendly and helpful. :clapping:

The fault code is related to the MAF sensor. Estimate to repair $500-$550.

Got a better price for the part @ Sunset $267 but my question is if range 1 was 0.24 and 0.25, and Range 2 were in the 1.09 and 1.11 range... Is the sensor my only problem?

That's what you get for not going to the local tech session where the air flow sensor was mentioned. Loren was supposed to be taking notes. :lol: I have the OBD II book but I really need to read it one of these days.

I sort of remember what Peter told me a long time ago. There are TRA and FRA numbers, and maybe that is what you mean by range 1 and 2. TRA and FRA are initials for some German words. I am going to guess that this is what we commonly call fuel trim.

TRA is at idle. -10 is good and -36 is the limit. FRA is the readings above idle - do not remember if the numbers should be different or the same as TRA.

That is all I remember. Maybe someone else can help.

If you have that many miles with the original sensor then you are lucky.

Can you post all the fault codes? and any other symptoms...

These are for most of the current cars:

Range 1, cylinder 4 - 6 (TRA2) -- 0.00 -- ±0.1

O2 sensor voltage ahead of cat. conv. -- 0.04 ≤ UL ≤ 0.79 V

O2 sensor voltage 2 ahead of cat. conv. -- 0.04 ≤ UL2 ≤ 0.79 V

O2 sensor voltage behind cat. conv. -- 0.04 ≤ UL ≤ 0.79 V

O2 sensor voltage 2 behind cat. conv. -- 0.04 ≤ UL2 ≤ 0.79 V

TP/Loren here is what I got from the readings.

Range 2, cylinder 1 - 3 (FRA) -- 1.02 -- ±0.04 >>> 1.09

Range 2, cylinder 4 - 6 (FRA2) -- 1.03 -- ±0.05 >>>1.11

Range 1, cylinder 1 - 3 (TRA) -- 0.00 -- ±0.1 >>> 0.24

Range 1, cylinder 4 - 6 (TRA2) -- 0.00 -- ±0.1 >>> 0.25

I replaced the MAF and my CEL is still on after several Cycles... it has been 12 times I have turned on the car. :drive:

I dont think they guy gave me the codes... Can I use the OBDII from Kragen to get the codes? The one you use does not run on OS X for mac :(

Any OBD II scan tool that can readout all the P (powertrain) codes should work.
