Can you please post instructions on how to remove the instrument hood, I mean not only taken them out from the dashboard, but phisically removing the pastic/leather hood from the instrument cluster to replace it.

Once you have the entire instrument cluster pod out of the car then remove the 2 screws that hold the cluster to the the pod. Then remove the screws that hold the 'hood' to the plastic surround. There are 10 of them on a Boxster. This is another Boxster picture so your 996 will look a bit different. Jeff
