I did a search and didn't quite find what I was looking for.

For the front, with the 3rd radiator DIY bumper removal steps work for a stock front bumper or is it different?

Is there a DIY for removing the rear stock bumper?

The car is a '99 C4 manual, no sensors.

Thanks,

Nazz

I'd like to add a little bit of clarification/revision/detail for future members going through this process.

First off, in order to remove the bumper you have to remove the bumperettes first. If you look underneath them you will see one allen bolt attaching each bumperette to the metal brackets attached to the bumper re-enforcement. These are 6mm. I don't remember the exact size. You do not have to completely remove these bolts to get the bumperettes off. You will loosen them about halfway and the top of the bumperette will come unhinged and fall outwards toward you. (Note: to reinstall, thread the allen bolt in about halfway, hang the bumperette on, then tighten.)

Once the bumperettes are off you can remove the bumper. My configuration was 75% similar to the diagram listed above but the bottom was completely different. My car is a '99 so perhaps they changed it on the '01+ cars. The top is obvious, four philips head screws inside the motor compartment that attaches a metal plate and the top of the bumper to the car. Unscrew those.

Next under the wheel well on each side there is one allen bolt closest to the tire. I used a 4mm allen wrench. I had a little trouble getting to the bolt with the car on the ground so I jacked it up enough to release the suspension and I was able to unscrew the bolt without having to take off the wheel. These were the only allen head bolts on the bumper on my car. Next on the bottom edge of the bumper on the side of the car there was only one philips head screw. The diagram shows two, but mine may have been removed previously and never reinstalled. This is obviously minor.

Here is the part that was not at all similar on my car: The bottom edge rear of the bumper was made for 4 holes not 3 like the diagram shows. I looked under the car and there was only one place were I saw three bolts and as I found out later they connected the heat shielding to the rear of the car. I removed two of them to see if I could release that side of the bumper and it was still hung on something. Come to find out there were two screws (in the outer two of four holes), one on each side of the bottom rear edge of the bumper holding it on. I removed those and the bumper came off. I reinstalled the two bolts for the shielding after I realized that they were not part of the removal process.

Hopefully this will save some confusion for someone in this process.

Thanks for the diagram, I couldn't have gotten the job done without it.
