Coolant Pump Replacement?

Ok, so I thought I figured it out and went ahead and cut the old hose where it is connected to the (hold on I have to look at my manual to see what’s it called) ahhh filler hose clamp...a T-shaped hose...I will have it this Thursday. Anyway, I looked and noticed at the bottom where the filler hose is connected to(red arrow) it seems that the leak was coming from the coolant pump(or I’m not really sure if its leaking from there). I checked the old hose and it seems to be intact(before I cut it and drained my coolant) Now, I need to figure out how to refill it correctly!

I need some advice on :

1. How do I replace coolant pump or just the seal? Any special tools?

2. How to properly fill the coolant (bought the coolant from Porsche dealership) but I need to mix it with distilled water (this probably is a stupid question but here goes: where do I get the distilled water?; chemistry lab?? Heheheh I don’t know that is why I asked..

3. And lastly, is the leak from the coolant pump common on boxsters?

ok, I guess coolant pump and water pump are the same...so, I'm thinking about replacing my water pump(or coolant pump) since it is common on boxsters...man, this will take me awhile.. :(

You can get distilled water at any supermarket. WalMart will do. It might be with drinking water, it might be with something else, like laundry supplies (people use distilled water to iron clothes). It's cheap.

A leaky water pump is not uncommon, and is often an indication the pump will fail soon. My recommendation would be to replace it.

Once you have replaced the pump and have all your hoses back on, you can refill the system via the fill tube located in the trunk next to the oil fill tube.

thanks..it was funny though, I came across a water pump online for Boxster and decided to buy it; this was 4 months ago...I had it sitting in my garage since then, and now I needed it....All I need to purchase is the sealant as well...I found the procedure for filling and bleeding...will be working on the car this weekend...

Thank God for Renntech...Porsche dealership's labor charge per hour is now $96.00!!!! Other fees= tax, shop towels, disposal fee, and of course you have to buy the parts from them, and if they breakl something, they'll tell you that it was broken and it needs to be replaced! All in all, I will be saving around $800.00 for this... :renntech:

Finally got evertyhing in place..water pump, thermostat, belt drive...tomorrow: sparks plugs and oxygen sensors...thanks everyone for your help :cheers: :thumbup:
