When I pull the door handle, the window drops but

when I release the handle, the window goes up.

I have to manually drop the window to shut the door.

I think that there are two micro switches so

which one keeps the window down until the door

is shut?

Thanks again Loran.

Paul:

There are THREE microswitches inside the door. The most likely suspect from what you describe is the microswitch inside the door lock assembly.

This is especially true if you are getting the same result whether you pull on the inner OR the outer door handle.

Thanks,

I am getting the same result from both inside and outside

handles. I wonder why I cannot find any DIY on re-placing

this switch. I am also finding it hard to find a picture of this switch.

Paul:

It's because the microswitch in question is INSIDE the door lock assembly (Part #14 in your diagram).

There was a thread here yesterday or the day before that actually had a photo of the overall part, even though that particular new part may have been defective. If I find that thread, I'll post a link here so that you can see the part.

Since you have confirmed that you are getting the same result from inside and from outside, it probably is that third microswitch. Sometimes you get lucky and it's just a loose connection to that switch.

Porsche does not sell that microswitch by itself, and forces you to buy the entire assembly!

A poster named "juniinc" on this site apparently found the microswitch on some British website, but I could not find it when I searched.

The story says he replaced part 14 and it did not

fix his problem.

The dealer repaired it under warrenty when I still had

a warrenty.

It can't be that hard?

Paul:

Can you get documentation from your dealer as to how they repaired it under warranty?

Bob's (JRG1) case is an anomaly. As he says, it may just be a defective new part. Most of the time, that microswitch does the trick.

Bob stated that he's expecting to get the replacement for the possibly defective part tomorrow. If he posts the outcome, you'll have another clue. Again, if you open the door panel, you may get lucky and find a loose connection at that microswitch.

I just passed 75,000 miles so I think

I have opened the door so many times that

I wore out the switch.

I will phone Jeff at Sunset and see what he says.

I just ordered a micro switch for $20. dollars.

I do not want to take the door apart with out the switch.

I also bought a spring for the center consule. It cost

87 cents. Must be my luckie day.

I am having the exact same problem. Anyone remedy this before?

You need to re-palce an $85.00 part. I hope to have

done it this weekend but it was another weekend

where I was to busy.

I will post a DIU when I do it.

You will need a special tool socket called an 8mm torque square socket

(12 point torx).

I got that last week.
